With what we know now, how is the Void bereft of aether?

I suspect we might get quite a bit more new information about the thirteenth from our Oracle of Darkness in the future Eden content. Given she was commanding a Voidsent, I'd be surprised if she doesn't have some ties to the thirteenth. I'm also hoping they'll tie Unukalhai more into that storyline somehow, though he definitely needs to be included in the MSQ at some point too.

So, you have the elements—and it’s still six elements, there are no newly-discovered ones. Those elements have charges—umbral and astral. If something has “umbral energy”, it is one or more of those elements, individual or combined. So if elements have an umbral charge, it can be said that they are “umbral energies”. That’s where those terms come from, “astral energies” and “umbral energies” are not individual things, it’s a blanket term. Light and Dark are not elements, but they are energies…in a different sense. They are not elements, they are not of the elements, and they are not astral or umbral. It’s a different type of energy. You might see a Light and Dark sprite and think, oh, they must be elemetals, but those are made of an entirely different form of energy.

Light and Dark are like a magnet. Iron Filings are like the Aether Elements. It would be like saying an Iron Filing pulled to the North end of a magnet has a "North Charge/Energies". However, that doesn't mean the Iron Filing itself is North. There's the energy in the magnet which is a different kind of energy in the Iron Filing, so they have different naming terminology even though they are both energy types.

So you have Light/Darkness pulling on all the aether elements and then the elements get a "umbral/asteral charge/energy". Light and Darkness are the cause and Umbral and Astral is the effect on the Elements.

I'm of the thought, that the voidsent we fight is her and when we defeat that, her body is returned to it's original "human" form due to the nature of Eden's powers and the aether of the First being the opposite of the Thirteenth's.

Actually... You can see Voidwalker holding the Oracle of Darkness' body in E2. It's almost like it's a human shield for the Voidwalker And you can also see what the Voidwalker/Oracle of Darkness is shouting at us for the entire duration of that fight. From the looks of things... It's like the Voidwalker is controlling the Oracle of Darkness. It's ranting at us the whole time and then when we defeat the Voidwalker, the Oracle wakes up and wonders what is happening to her.

It seems to mirror how Adel junctioned Rinoa in FFVIII in a lot of ways actually. And the being junctioning another being has all the control in the relationship too...

This is one of those posts where I read it the first time and go "I don't get it", read it a second time and go "I still don't get it", and read it a third time and go "... oh. Oh! Yeah, now I get it!"

So yeah, that's an excellent point. It fits with what we know quite well, and I just needed to make the effort to change my way of thinking.

The Dark void that we know is void of aether, but you still have the people and animals that were there and they’re aether-starved and trying to break through into our world and suck that aether back into their own.

So maybe the rejoining was already in progress, alot of aether moved to the source and then it stopped for some reason?

No need for a rejoining, we know from the Exarch that aspecting a Shard alone causes aether to flow from it into the Source. The flow presumably stopped when the Flood of Darkness began.

I wonder why it's got white gloves on though....
