You sure about that? I always thought that it's the current market that dictates how much players place their items up for sale (supply vs demand). If I could choose how much I want to sell items for based on what I feel the item is worth, then it will either never sale because I place this value too high, or I crash the market by setting the price too low. Both of these outcomes do not work in the seller's favor. You're really just choosing how much to sell yourself short by when choosing to sell something for less than the going rate.

It might not be bad for you, but it could potentially be disastrous for the market. It's dismissive thinking because buying and turning for profit requires a financial investment, and the OP is talking about a time investment. The seller does not benefit from your actions like you think they do, because you're actually perpetuating the buyer's market, and a ideal economy is one with an equilibrium where both buyer and seller benefit.

I don't sell anymore other than materia drops from dungeons, tome mats or gear coffers when leveling though story to clear inventory and uncap tomes. I don't need the money. Been there done that. I do love those though that crash markets and somehow justify it as doing their thing. If they think people won't match prices by undercutting them they're not paying attention.

I think cross server sales have done a lot to ameliorate pricing but that's not always the case given especially on high priced items like gear/collectable furniture and so on prices can vary significantly on different servers. Just server hop in Limsa and save yourself some money. But for those who seriously undercut I have little respect for. It's bad enough we have to deal with bots who kill markets let alone those who don't have to but do anyway.

Only two things on the MB that kill braincells for me....

1 - Undercutting by asinine amounts. Example: An item that has been going for 100k+ for months, some chucklehead posts several for 10k.

2 - People posting items for below VENDOR sell price. That item that you can sell to the vendor for 49 gil, posted on the MB for 30 gil... WHYYYY?! Vendor that thing, bruh!

    Y U HAET MUNNIES?!

Price is based on value, not effort. Make things that are valuable, not things that require a lot of effort. Sometimes those are the same thing and sometimes they aren't. That's the glory of capitalism.

Wish they left crafting alone and not allowed you buy items from other servers in world visit. SE broke the market when they did that. Whats next having only 2 skills for crafting 100% hq skill and 100% process skill.

Agreed for the most part. My fault though as I neglected to mention that sellers will always be able to take advantage of convenience, which people will pay in excess for. That is why the OP really shouldn't be too concerned, even with how crafting has been made more accessible and easy. Cross server is all well and good, but it is even more cumbersome than a simple teleport to get to the nearest MB on your home server in the first place. I myself have been guilty for waiving off thousands in savings because I could just not be bothered to hop to another server to purchase something.

What undercutting tells me is that this person does not know how, or does not care to play the market. I can understand the latter, but I wish they would understand that you don't need to severely undercut to get something to sell quickly, and if you really want it gone and willing to take such a price cut, then vendor the damn thing. All that away though, I think we can agree that OP likely exhausted the bread n' butter of their wares, and now has to find something else that is worth their time to market.

And now that everyone can be desynthesized items there is no need to make a profit off mats now.

I used to make Gil off of mats, but now I can't even do that and I'm stuck with all these crafting items that won't sell.

This one is so me, and it's good to know it annoys people.

If ya want a good item to check out, try "Bag of Booty". They were 5 million gil last week. Someone kept undercutting me, so now they are less then 300k.

Teach people to undercut me for 1gil at a time.
