Gathering Mats via DoL is WAY out of Sync with Monster Drop rates - LTW kinda forked?

so true, just pushed LTW to 80 last night, I read the drop rates were abysmal so i've been sending my retainer to get smilodon and green glider hides and to be honest with just those two stacks making turn in items, leve items and a few other things in the craft log for xp boost and to sell and i zoomed through LTW.

Skins were as much if not more than actual leathers on Diabolos MB which is ridiculous. I went out to test green glider hunt and forget that, they're all spread out with horrible drop rate. I get the RNG aspect of item hunting in games but it's not like the monster just doesn't have skin lol Maybe in the fight you damaged its hide too much to use? I wish they'd up the drop rate a bit.

Why didn't you just buy them with gemstones?

That's still some ridiculous disparity with the other jobs. say minimum 3 minutes for a fate gets you 1.5 leathers plus you still need to gather for the alumen.

in 3 minutes of botany i can have enough logs to make like 20 lumbers

I wasn't trying to say otherwise, I was merely asking the poster I quoted why they were farming mobs instead of doing FATEs. Pretty sure you can do a fate and buy 6 leathers faster than you could get the leathers to drop, lol. So might as well just do the FATEs. And besides, by the time you do what again, 300 FATEs to rank them all up? you'll have enough gemstones to buy you... well, way more leather than you could ever need to get LTW to 80. 300 FATEs is what, 3,600 gemstones which would buy you 1,800 skins which would make 450 leathers.

Though I suppose that this would not take into account the stones needed to buy the unlocks, BUT you get what I mean.

To be 100% honest I didn't/don't know much about FATE farming. I hardly ever do them, if at all ever. I guess I should have clarified.
When my weaver needed the halgai(?) manes and hairs from the sheep in the Steppe I could round them up and aoe them and get everything I needed in mere minutes. I was under the assumption that smilodon skins and glider skins would be similar but boy was I wrong. (was also tipped off at horrible drop rate from another poster I wish I could remember and thank) So while leveling my other crafts to 80 I kept spamming my retainers to get me skins, and in doing so by the time I got to LTW I just spammed leves and was 80 within an hour or two. I didn't spend very long farming skins manually lol But thanks for the heads up on FATES i'll have to look into that as a new source of 'currency' for crafts.
