I don't know how you're having such a hard time with this fight. It was easy i never once went below 70% hp. Its literally apply dot use his hp restoring skill over and over with stardiver and DoT application before it wears and avoid aoe's then use roar for adds thats it. No strategy needed.

On very easy this shouldnt even be a challenge because normal mode i finished first try.

On one hand.... I hate that it drops you into another character's spot with skills you likely don't know what they do, and add onto that the very limited selection of skills and sometimes boated HP pools. Playing as both Thancred and Hien was incredibly dull and went on way too long.

On the other hand, it does make the concept of the echo our character has much more immersive when you're actually playing the past experiences rather than just seeing them in a cutscene. I wouldn't mind more control of auxiliary characters in non-combat situations. Like rather than just seeing the cutscene of Estinein going into the Imperial Throne room, maybe instead we played as him leading up to that point, in some sort of infiltration scenario, even if there's no combat, and then saw the goings on in that room.

Briefly put, engaging in combat on other jobs is both boring if you know the job, and frustrating if you don't.

I can sympathize... I failed multiple times before giving up and going to "very easy" mode, then passed. Doesn't help that I don't know a single thing about dragoon and had no prompts available to me to tell me what the skills do. This might be a failing of the PlayStation version since I couldn't even bring up the actions guide in the menu to look at them. I just had to press whatever when it came off cooldown and guess at what it was doing (apart from the obvious ones of course. I know what a potion is)

I would rather it be 100%. I liek the characters yes but I dont want to play as them. I want to play as my character. I don't think you get it though so I am probably wasting my time here as usual.

I disagree. I don't feel immersed in the story if I am playing a predefined main character that I cant control the appearance of(especially if its white guy skinhead number 538 or white guy with dark haired beard #236, give me a female main protagonist thank you video game industry), so I avoid games like Risen, most jrpgs, that new EA game Fallen Order, Uncharted, and on and on. It's not that its strange, its just its not my character that I customized, so I have no investment in them and thus I get bored and zone out and ask why am I playing this and I just go to a different game. I used to have a lot more fun with the msq in this game until they started this role quest bs.

I dont emphasize with a character's situation unless they are a really well written character and tbh, I dont really think most of the characters are, so I dont emphasize with them. Plus I'm more of a self insert kind of person, I imagine myself as the WoL/D and that more than anything gets me invested. However, as soon as suddenly, SE doesn't want you to play as your character and gets you stuck in a role quest for 30 minutes that could have been done in just a 1 to 2 minute cutscene, its jarring and very annoying and irritating, to the point that I may just end my sub and just wait for 6.0.

That's unlikely to change in 6.0 since most people seem to either like it or don't mind it.

As long as it's not very long, I don't care (Thancred fight is too long imo).

Considering they've given easy difficulty option, there is no reason to allow for people to just completely skip what they've designed when these contents are a part of the MSQ just as dungeons are.

I guess I'm the minority here because I also don't like them either.
I have not done the new MSQ, so I dunno how that is.
I did the Range Role where you get like 2 skills and 1 for every 30-60 seconds was boring
and that took about like 10-15 mins.

But Thancred was you pressing 3 buttons with the LB thing for like 25-30 minutes and I was so bored
and tired afterward, I actually stopped playing for a bit. I might be exaggerating the times a bit
but it felt like an eternity lol. It's more of the limited skills set to the amount of time you're there.
It's like playing low level dungeons at max again but with even less skills so you're like "Ughhh..."
That's how I feel about it. If it had more stuff to do as them I would not mind it.

What I rather have is the Scion friends with you more which they've done an excellent job
this expansion. I don't feel alone like I did most of the years playing. We actually have friends helping
you along the way. The thing with Y'sthola and the one Viera (names are escaping me lol) and the Indiana Jones thing
was one of the most memorable events for me in this game and some other stuff they did.

Thing is you don't need to know anything about Dragoon for the fight because he has 4 skills for the second part a DoT a single target skill that always heals you Stardiver another damage skill that has a seperate cd and roar(aoe). It was an easy fight not once was i in danger of dying avoid the aoes from the boss and you never drop below 80% hp. Only time i went below that was the adds and that was 70%.

Its not a hard fight i dont see how people are struggling with it. No knowledge of DRG is needed because its 241114112114 the entire fight. And aoe when the 1 set of adds shows up. Wait for the LB queue to pop hit LB and fights over.

I personally love these fights because its not oh hey another fight on my over tuned main character thats easier yet.

Estinien's roleplay instance was a step in the right direction for me. Lots of movement, we weren't stuck in one location, and it was mercifully short. Every other roleplay instance for me, especially Thancred's was just a slog because we were stuck in one place and fighting a bullet sponge that couldn't be beaten till they said all their lines. Having the instance be more active worked by comparison. It still has a bit of jank but if future Roleplay instances are like the last one I might be able to tolerate them. But please for the love of good never do a repeat of Thancred's. I almost died of boredom.

You can control the mouse on PS4 using the controller touchpad, or L1+R3. That lets you hover the cursor over the skills and read the descriptions.
