    Back to the topic:

    I liked the suggestion earlier about fully supporting the mod community. There are a lot of things that I would like to do, specifically with the UI, that not only do I think the people in general don't agree with, but that I also think would be a waste of the UI teams resources. If the mod community is given the tools to adjust things easier from the client side that would be awesome. I personally have no need for the mini map, the new menu icons in the bottom right corner, HP/MP bar when I'm just walking around, experience bar constantly on screen, and even the chat log.

    There's a Skyrim mod called Immersive UI that changes what is shown on screen based on the context of their usage. If you aren't using them then they aren't there and you can press certain buttons to bring them up if you need to access them in a hurry. I would love to do a similar thing with XIV's UI, but I can totally see how a lot of players would be frustrated with that and how each separate UI element having differing levels of opacity or toggleability could be considered low priority on the UI teams list of things to do.

    I would like to touch on my Yoshi comment a little more. I do not by any means believe all of his ideas are bad, and I think a year ago he brought a much needed breath of fresh air to the game. I feel XIV in the original form, while quite dry and empty in most respects, brought very original ideas to the genre, ideas that we never got to see fleshed out fully and probably never will.     you mean mr. Tanaka´'s original ideas. it may be a bad decision to have got ridd of him. he was restrained by bad system & design and deadline. we need him back.

    I think it's a mixture. I do like that Yoshida's giving a face to the community, opening pathways of communication between developer and end user, and cleaning up the game mechanics. There are some overarching Tanaka policies, judging by the particular titles he's overseen as producer, that really make me scratch my head. I understand the concept behind implementing certain ideas but to not refine them to a reasonable level by taking player feedback into suggestion was incredibly frustrating.

    I think, conceptually, vanilla XIV could have been a masterpiece. Judging from seven years in XI though, out of touch, seems to be an understatement. A major issue for me is the GUI and I don't think the team at SE is really capable of creating a very fluid one that balances usability with interactivity. Unfortunately that's the major problem with a lot of these ad hoc changes and I don't blame Yoshida for pressing the reset button. I'm just going to miss fully customizing my character. Hopefully though I can at least fully customize my UI as that's been a promise that they still haven't kept since the game's E3 showing in 09'.

    When Yoshi-P did his marathon interview run i read them all as they were released, but its been a while now.
    Does anyone know/remember if he mentioned if the UI was being brought over to the Client side rather than the Server side that we currently have?

    I also remember in a few of the interviews he mentioned the fact that the current UI is receiving additions and improvements even though it will be totally scrapped come 2.0. This was to improve the 'quality of life' of the current players.

    So with that, we don't know much more than the main 2.0 screenshot. We haven't seen what the 'skin' of the UI will be therefore can't be sure if the 5x5 bag/icons will be ugly or not, but there are only so many ways you can display a 5x5 window of icons (as proven by most other MMOs).

    If the 'List View' survives, i would like to see customisable 'tabs'. Tabs that can be renamed and resized i.e a 10 tab for 'Logs', or a 30 tab for 'Materia'.
    The size of the tab will take from the total inventory space, so if the max is 100 and you want a 20 tab and 5 tab you would have: Inventory 75, TabOne 20, TabTwo 5 = 100.

    oh please. list with many diffrent sort by functions is better than worthless icon bags. it just looks cluttred and silly. what does icon bags have that list does not?

    just look at this.


    some items you cant even tell what they are, wether they are rings or braces or belts or mantles.
    if you have different potions and drinks youhave to start hover around to see wat they are.

    with too many different icon your view gets disorted and you have lean forward if yu want to identify by icon. and if you cant find still you have to start hover items one by one.

    wayer slow than list inventory.

    Greetings! The topic that Triary was replying to was one where players were requesting the devs to add in features in regards to inventory sorting. Here's his reply:

    With the current inventory system structure, it’s not possible to manually move items inside of your inventory.

    I am wondering if it will be possible to have automatic allocation of items in each of the 5x5 bags displayed for 2.0.
    Yes, there will be multiple 5x5 bags in 2.0, and you will be able to freely allocate which items go into which bags. Additionally, you will be able to sort by categories within the 5x5 bags and manually rearrange them as you like.


    To the topic of the thread itself, we'll take your feedback under consideration as usual.
