Everyone and their dog have been "victims" of emotes. In RL professionally competitions people may not behave like this normally, but amongst friends, and over the internet, it's always been like this. More or less.
I Have shuffleboard matches with my friends often, and we taunt each other like crazy.

I can't know for sure ofc, but I highly suspect that for some, the heat of competition is too much. The word harassment gets thrown around A LOT these days.

Sure, that's the correct way of interpreting that line... -____-
While TC's case happened in FL, I agree FL is more or less "harassment free" given its casual and lighthearted nature. However, things start getting nasty real quick the same moment you step onto the feast and start climbing. There is no "tame" toxicity, there's a horde of rabbit dogs with their binded ignore markers ready to spam them on top of your character if for whatever reason they happen to think you've been the reason for their last loss.

Do you know what was the heat of the competition when I competed skiing? Not losing my balance under high speed and ending up with my face buried into the snow.

Or when I used to play table tennis? Trying to keep my head cool even when the opponent had the upper hand or I had a bad day. Overcoming such obstacles without underperforming or losing my temper is what made me competitive.

But here in the online, for some twisted logic I yet have to manage to grasp, the "heat of the competition" is putting up with harassment and insults. And it doesn't end here, the flamers will go out their way and tell you that you should stop playing (or breathing, if they are angrier than usual) because you are not competitive. Ha! Don't you dare tell me I'm not competitive when you've been losing your shit from the very beginning, spamming the chat with macros, distracting our allies and disrupting the team as hard as you could because you couldn't handle the enemy team getting the first kill.

There are different levels and way of taunting, and just trying to get a "yes for taunt / no for taunt" answer is not the solution.
Sometimes it's just friendly. Sometimes, it's because the opponent is harassing us at base, so when we beat him at last we're glad to jump twice on it's body before leaving (jump is the easy emote whatever the game). Sometimes it's because someone attacks us all alone while you did not attack him or her on purpose, he or she keeps attacking you, you then have 50% HP and did nothing on purpose to let the other one leave (cause you're busy reaching somewhere) and then you understand he or she won't leave you, you turn back at him or her and just burst that one in 10sec, a bit like an annoying mosquito you decide to get rid of. Sometimes, it's 1v2 and you win, so you're glad to jump on them like a small taunt as they couldn't beat you while they were more. One of my favourite taunt in LoL is typing "?" when someone jumps at me while I'm alone, I asked for nothing (it's the game, of course, so they try), and then I beat them. It's harmless and fun, and a bit like "why did you come at me? what did you think would happen?"
It's nothing to compare with those coming after a game and harassing you. That's not ok of course. But be sure first it's not someone just coming to give you advice. Sometimes people don't handle pure advice told in a normal way and think the person is raging or full of himself.

Good sportsmanship is rarer now, people think they're still at school, or with their friends. We can feel when a taunt is supposed to be funny for both side just to have a laugh, we can feel when it's a taunt not really mean, just like something on the moment but it's ok, and we can feel when you have people in the need of making you feel bad on purpose to a certain level to feel superior, that last one is not ok imo.

Hmmm, I dunno it sounds a bit much, but then again I haven't played that many feast matches, so I can't really know. Could you say they are trying to bully you to stop?

The phrase "heat of competition" was used as an umbrella term.

Good to know you can perform elsewhere without losing your cool.

Again, in RL, professional competition, this kind of behavior is rare. Casual, amongst friends, family and over the internet, it's common (talking taunting, and toxic behavior).

The reason it happens this much over the internet, I dunno, but I bet it has something to do with anonymity and antisocial behavior. Some people are genuine %#&holes though, ofc, we all encountered them. Don't let their bulling get to you.

In real life, no one would imply people who squats are s.assault attacker (for PC purposes), because that would make every single person on earth an attacker. Comparing random strangers to an attacker is also a mild form of accusing them of being an attacker. Falsely accusing someone of being an attacker is a serious crime that can damage their reputation and ruin lives. OP, please seek counselling for your traumatic experience, learn to build your trust on people and interact with people again. If you're still struggling to cope and feel like it is too much, give your local samaritans a call.

This thread honestly needs to die and I know I'm going against the sentiment by bumping it but still.

Stop equating silly emotes in a FL match to harassment. Learn what context means. Learn what harassment actually means. You downplay the meaning of harassment and how much of a problem it can be when you throw the label on anything you see fit. Stop.

And OP. Get some help. Don't let a Japanese video game company solve your trauma, they're just there to make video games. Go see a therapist.

Just get good. Stop crying about the Victor's behavior. Perhaps if you had won the battle, you would not be looking for aid from the powers that be. Weakness, is not a good look!

"Get good" is not a reality in this topic as in Frontline you always will die a moment or another (same in Feast), even if it can happen to have 0 deaths. Unrealistic advice about that topic. Who never ever lose in a way or another? (overall lost game even if never died, or just one death on the field even if you won). Get realistic instead trying to be a smart mouth. I do understand it's kind of humor as you're exagerating, but the kind of humor that only makes the one doing it to have a laugh, I don't believe it has its place in the topic even if you think the author is being ridiculous to complain about such common behaviour.

It's more of me saying, yeah just laugh at it and keep trying to get better. What I personally would do is make a mental mark of the player and look for chances to get them back. But dont tunnel them or you will put yourself and your team at risk. Just get revenge man.
