Well, they plan to bring Diadem back with the Ishgard Restauration, so so still think they will be bringing back the rewards and archivements as well. That's propably the reason why they haven't announced anything.

I didn't hate it as much as the masses would have you think everyone hated it.Where was all the diadem support back when it was current? All i remember was people hating on it. It died so fast because of that. This is a case of the devs seeing content that can be re-purposed for something else, instead of having to start from scratch and use more resources.
Maybe if people had actually expressed interest in the diadem, been active in doing it "for the achievements" this wouldn't be happening.
Heck I didn't even hate Dino-hunt Diadem 1.0.
But after it became irrelevant, much like everything else, people moved on. My goals left remaining in The Diadem had to be put on the backburner because the public stopped going and the one or two I could wrangle into going via private airship was never enough to reliably complete the mission, let alone NM farm.
I can only hope that NMs are still there when it's revamped for the Ishgard restoration and players who want to kill NMs for achievements still can.

if Diadem is being re-purposed as Gatherer Island for Ishagard restoration it wouldn't make any sense (to me imo) that it would include NM's.
I'm a pragmatist and the pessimist also in me says this stuff is gone for good.

This has got me thinking, if there is anything you want from Eureka you might want to make sure you get it, no clue how long that will stick around.

You're very likely correct.
Just throwing words out into the void really in hopes SE may notice and do something some day maybe. (they won't)

I fought long and hard to get as many as I could. I've reached the end of my steam, and I'm quoting myself here because I realized something. The original Guild Hest and Levequests(Battle/Field/Craft) all had huge numbers tied to them. 10k I think for the Guildhest completion achievement, and the levequests were at, something like, 10k leves done to max out and get those achievements.
Square Enix heard the outcries on the impossibility of these and reduced the numbers to something, mostly more manageable. Meaning. They can adjust the numbers again for these achievements, and give them out too.

Remains a mystery to me that existing progress wasn't rolled up into another game aspect - killing NMs could easily have translated to doing likewise in Eureka, and a clear in the Baldesion Arsenal qualifying for clearing the Diadem EM. Total forays into Diadem could've also been inclusive of total forays into Eureka.
Really want to hear back from the devs on this one.

I'm still really hoping for a dev response as well. Here's where we are now post-5.1:
- The issue wasn't addressed by Yoshida in last night's patch note reading.
- It's being swept under the rug a bit by other players with the hype for new content (completely understandable).
- Some players only learned about Diadem's removal last night. Many players will wait for full notes before reading, it's not unusual.
- Existing (earned) Diadem achievements remain under Exploration -> Duty in the achievement log. They weren't moved.
- All unearned Diadem achievements are no longer visible, much like uncompleted seasonal events or ranked PvP, they're hidden if you didn't earn them prior to 5.1.
