BUT i will say this . you are intentionally misintrepating what that guy answered to op in order to make him look like what the op said is absolutely true. If you just want to spread hate between 2 different points of view just cause you want to make yourself look good piss right off cause all your points are misinformed and you yourself are a horrible troll

I'm disabled with fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue. Both of which have a big impact on my ability to play the game and I have never seen on the forums nor in the game hate against players with disabilities.

In fact, if I let my group know upfront that I am having a bad night, they have been totally fine with that.

People can fall into a subconscious trap of stereotying, knowing nothing more about you that you have X, Y, or Z

Both my husband and I have issues. We know our limitations on what we can and cannot do. So we find things we CAN do and enjoy that! That is what I love about FF14.

Speaking for myself, I have severe anxiety. PvP and raids are very difficult for me. So I don't do them. If I ever do want to try it one day, I would get people who I know and make a group.

Best advice? ... don't tell strangers you have a disability. Problem solved.

First, I actually haven't seen anyone saying disabled people should be weeded out. Can you point this out? Possibly report it? Not a healthy attitude.

Second, to all the people saying 'I know this person who is diabled and--' quit it. Not everyone has the same disability, not everyone can play at the same level as your friend who is handicapped and able to play at high levels.

I'd say most people playing this game have their own issues to deal with to the point where they're not necessarily willing to bend over backwards to tend to everybody else. Nor are they necessarily qualified to provide the support required/demanded from some individuals. To be blunt it seems as if far too many people these days try to manipulate others into feeling bad due to not wanting to hold their hands and/or provide what is essentially free therapy.

The knee-jerk reaction to "uh, you're making that up, no one says that, get over it" is worrying.

Since there's no way for anyone to prove any kind of disability online (typical internet rules apply here) it's all just smoke and choco s#!t anyways. I've never had any personal issue anytime with anyone in this game as I accept that there's gonna be players of all skill levels in most content. Patience is a virtue. And any disability that causes game play issues just falls under "skill level", I really don't give a Kobols rear what is wrong, or what you think is wrong with you. Lets just play the game together and have some fun, can we? And this post is not aimed at the OP, it's aimed at EVERYONE, including myself.

I personally wouldn't call patience "free therapy." I think all OP is asking for is for players to be mindful of the fact that not everyone learns at the same pace, for various reasons. To remember that the person who's struggling may not be making mistakes just to upset their party - they very well may be trying their best. They don't deserve to be insulted or weeded out of the game just because they take longer to learn something. I don't think it's asking much to remember that not everyone will be perfect right away (or even at all times)? I'd imagine that it would make the game more fun actually since other people's mistakes wouldn't seem so aggravating.

I'm not exactly trying to spread war between the two opposing viewpoints here, I'm completely open to a civil discussion about this. I don't mean to be nasty or say this issue is entirely black & white, and I do sympathize with people concerned about general player competency on the other side! But I'm really confused as to what I did to make you think I'm trolling, honest to god...?

As for misinterpreting his points-- I apologize if that was the case. Not to put the burden of proof on you or anything, but I would appreciate it if it was pointed out as to what I may have misinterpreted or read incorrectly into what he said.

So I had a dungeon (Amaurot) the other day with someone who macro'd in right at the beginning that he was disabled. He could apparently play with only one hand and so he was using his mouse for everything.

    He was the healer.

    This was a problem.

We wiped multiple times to trash. He died on every boss fight. We managed to pull out the first boss by the grace of excellent tanking and sheer dumb luck. Second boss in there isn't much more than a big trash pull and wasn't too bad... naturally he died on it though. The last boss we couldn't kill. Not enough healing through unavoidable damage, and he also died every pull to one thing or another. I don't think we ever made it past the second jump actually.

Here's the thing: we tried to help. We tried to offer suggestions for how we could get through this. My co-dps suggested using an MMO mouse, I suggested rearranging his HUD so that his primary healing spells were closer to his party list to reduce travel time.

He wasn't having any of it. Bear in mind we'd been in this dungeon for about 40 minutes by this point. This guy simply was not capable of healing this dungeon AND he wasn't interested in suggestions to help him through the difficulties he was having.

Does this mean all disabled people should be shot into the sun or whatever this complaint is supposed to be? Of course not. Does it mean this guy should not be a healer? Yes it does. He isn't capable of doing the job, he should therefore not do the job. He could be a ranged dps and do just fine. But a healer? No.
