Ive done crafting, unless it SERIOUSLY changes in Specialization (My highest is lv 30-ish on GSM) I dont see what exactly your applying to High Level "Endgame" crafting.
People don’t have a problem with newer players leveling their crafts, and SE making it easier for them. What people in general have an issue with, is making endgame easier. For example, Prudent Touch is an overpowered move introduced in 4.0 Stormblood. That already had crafters annoyed at how much easier it made endgame crafting. It basically made quality touches 100% guaranteed, and trivialized crafting as a whole. Add insult to injury, come 5.0, they add Delicate synthesis. That was the final nail in the coffin for a lot of crafters including myself, it made crafting a children’s game at that point.

You just mindlessly input a delicate synthesis/prudent touch rotation in a macro, and spam it constantly, in turn, spamming items on the market. Crafting gear endgame is really all crafters had, and to have that ruined is kind of wack. So, after 2 years of waiting and posting in the DoH forum, Square Enix is finally taking action against this by balancing actions and (most likely) nerfing something to make HQ not so easy to get endgame. They literally said that, I can post the source if you’d like.

Making things a bit easier is one thing, but neutering the difficulty endgame into the ground is another. And I’m glad that’s finally changing. 5.1 - 5.2 basically determines the future of crafting.

It sounds like we are talking about 2 different things....
Your talking about New skills they added that make HQ Crafting Easier...Im talking about making Crafting easier as a whole.

Well, they’re both interchangeable in that sense...if you make crafting mechanics easier as a whole, you also make endgame crafting easy too. But it’s hard to say what’ll happen, nobody knows what plans Square has for us until patch day.

Let's be real. Craft jobs had way too much skills, and you use only like 10-15 or so. It is about time a clean in skills list. Also, I think those are just cross class skills, that they will remove (at last). So I expect a clean up of craft skills and reduce the list. There is way too much of them, mostly useless in end game crafting.
Perhaps it's time the many deaths of FFXIV thread gets another post...

Thats less than "I just picked this up" level 60 dps classes.
If we're just talking about abilities used, most rotations I've seen used for crafting higher level recipes maybe use about that many unique skills anyway. A decent chunk of the skills at this point are just superfluous or only used when leveling and before you have access to the next step up.

    This is a myth.

Careful Synthesis III, inner quiet, Steady Hand II, Prudent Touch x4, Masters Mend, Steady Hand II, Prudent x 3, Great strides, Byregot's Blessing, Careful Synthesis III x 2 will work up to 78. It's a leveling rotation, nothing more. Even basic 80 recipes though, That rotation won't cut it. You need to add another Steady Hand, Innovation to the Great Strides, Byregot and you need to add Ingenuity to the end Careful Synthesis III.

So level 80 (not master books just 80)
Careful Synthesis III, Inner Quiet, Steady Hand II, Prudent x 4, Master Mend, Steady Hand II, Prudent x 3, Steady Hand, Innovation, Great Strides, Byregot's Blessing, Ingenuity I or II, Careful Synthesis III until complete.

Master Book recipes, that will not get you to 100% even with all HQ mats and parts. Because 8 stacks of IQ from Prudent simply isn't enough. For casual people, it will get you high enough you will eek out a set of HQ gear for yourself at the expense of all HQ mats and even then get enough to assume a fail on every piece.

On its own, Prudent is not over powered. Not at end game. By the time we get to 3 and 4 star 80, I don't expect anyone to be using Prudent in their rotations. If they nerf it enough, they can add that to the slash and burn pile because the guides that will be out a week after the patch will expose it as another worthless skill.

If someone levels their crafts to 80 right now, they can buy a full set of crafting gear for less than 1,000,000 gil. They can spend a few hours gathering then craft collectables for tier 8 materia in guaranteed slots and a handful of tier 4 overmelds, that is all you need now. Then copy a rotation from online. In a matter of like 5 hours, a new crafter at level 80 can be on par with the best crafters. The level 80 two star crafts are so easy that a crafting noob can do it just as easily as a veteran crafter. It completely trivializes crafting.

How would people like it if a brand new player reaches level 80 combat and within a matter of a few hours can raid just as well as the best experienced raiders? It would make raiding feel like it is not an accomplishment whatsoever. So why is it alright to make crafting that easy? They take pride in raiding, we want to be able to take pride in crafting again, like we used to.

Prudent has 2 main problems now. Its inefficient and its the same power as Delicate, which means that it falls off quickly.

One of its biggest strengths was being the best IQ battery after MuMe and PbP, but MuMe and PbP are utter garbage now and arent worth having (which means the best opener is actually initial prep, which speaks to the sad state of openers). Its always been worse overall than ObsFoc at everything but IQ stacking if you dont care about macro length, and its worse than Prep because prep is a thing that is absurdly good.

to be fair, the combination of Delicate and Prep has taken a lot of the thinking out of a chunk of crafting.

What I find as funny is that people want crafting to be less macro'able, which means it will actually get EASIER (meaning that 1% chance of your macro ending at 99% hq will be gone), since you will be able to trick every irrelevant good, touch every excellent, and observe or rebuff every poor. You'll likely always have reuse available too, because tricks.

    yuuuup

Crafting in 5.0 is so nonsensically easy that if you arent 80'd, you arent putting in even the slightest amount of effort.

I leveled crafting on 2 characters from 70-80 in a week, and thats only because I didnt buy anything on the mb for it. Its doable in a day if you feel like spending a little bit (mats are cheap now, too, cause bots exist).

False equivalence. A highly skilled player can do exactly what you describe because they're highly skilled. But raiding isn't all about personal skill, it's about group skill.

Basically, you get to make that comparison the moment crafting requires 8 people to be perfectly in sync over a 15 minute crafting session.
