"Looks like" but I doubt it. You can see the same boy in an earlier cutscene when you first restore night to Lakeland, and Ardbert's soul isn't "available" to be reincarnated because it's still him.

Technically isn't his soul now us? I expect him to live on as a Fray type character at this point, at least. One who is effectively just in our heads.

That too - he definitely won't be reincarnated now.

I think it's quite possible that we'll see him return and continue to exist/manifest as a distinct 'fragment' of ourself.

That would make no sense. He was becoming a part of our soul so he should not be able to reincarnate at all and that would be too fast. I just think this boy shows how our deeds change people and give them a reason to become adventurers themselves.

At OP: Would be nice if he makes a return but that would also mean that he somehow is able to co-exist even with our souls rejoined..poor WoL her mind is really getting full.

I don't think it's so much "supposed to remind us of _______" as that all child characters (of a particular race/gender) have prettymuch the same face, and it's especially noticeable when their hair is the same as well.
