I just hang out on the area and do fates while waiting for queues. More interesting than my house of late and beats botting cities and I get points for my hassle and we all know points mean prizes!

I also like the scenery and music of the areas. So between fates, scenery, music hunts for me nuts and money i have enough reason to be there.

Also alot more interesting zones as well eorzea everything in the world is just wide open spaces. You can't go an explore that castle in lydia Lyran or the mun tuy cellars or any number of other places. Xi you could run around defaults tower or the eldieme necropolis or garleige citadel, castle vahzl, the sacrarium. Any number of places that weren't just big open areas of nothingness.

Just the fact you could actually see the action other players were engaged in was much more lively than XIV equivalent of a player just stood there with an icon above there heads doing nothing because they're in an instanced area completely seperate from the world..

Fates and hunts just dont cut it. The nature of everyone can participate just trivialises them into zerg fests and nothing more...

I do wish eorzea was actually alive....

Eorzea is dead a long time ago, this game isn't heading the same direction as the Eorzea of 1.0. Its world, its inhabitant, its aesthetic only exist to serve as a backdrop for the story, playthrough it once and abandoned.

I share your sentiment but majority of players don't care.

    Add Monstrosity

    Add Beastmaster

The 2 most unique features in its' predecessor. You could sit around & soak up the scenery + Fauna. Or be the fauna.

Those came to mind after reading your post. The great thing about both of them, is it forced players to explore various zones. You were forced to be in the open world, because BST did not really participate in group content, and playing as a behemoth in group content would kind of be OP lol.; although you could team up as a monster with other players playing as a monsters. Each zone has a level range, so you had to explore.

With monstrosity, you had to visit these zones over and over again on different monsters. There were hundreds of playable creatures. To unlock them all, you had to level specific creatures in the open world. Example, Cockatrice unlocks Roc at level 30, Roc at level 50 unlocks Hippogryph, having all three at level 75 unlocks Amphiptere.

Those are explorer friendly content which I think they could add. I agree, some of the zones and even creatures look amazing.

I wouldn't mind a transformation limited content but I'd really hope it doesn't mean the exclusion of a transformation based job (that can be part of the main content). Perhaps morpher (FFT) / monstrosity being some limited content and then an entirely new job to the game series being DF. Or using the advanced job concept where it's both, DF part being balanced around a specific kit though. Just that I'd really like to play, in DF (and content like that), a transformation based job.

Also I remember long ago Yoshida talked about how he thought the monster vs party mechanic was fun, wonder if there is potential in having open world (consensual) pvp with players hunting down players lol. Can have elements of pvp and pve, like the monster has to level up and evolve their form to become strong enough to face the players while also trying to pick them and their resources off one by one and hiding their tracks while the hunters play a bit of war party, hamlet upgrading, and resource pipeline acquisition to improve their team / search party capabilities (like making a watch tower to ping an area if the monster enters it on interval). I believe it was around the time Evolve was popular, which reminded me a lot of some fun warcraft 3 custom maps .

One of the issues I have is that even with the vendors and the bicolor gemstones being added to FATEs, they STILL aren't worth doing once you're done. I honestly thought that they would be, even after I bought all of the vanity items and finished leveling, because we can buy materials with them! Surely that would be a draw? But no. The time spent vs. reward isn't there.

And really, who doesn't need the carrot? Very few of us are going to go do something in this game without there being SOME sort of carrot, tangible or not.
FATES were a small part of what I used to level everything to 80. That was the only carrot I needed.

I do beast tribe quests and hunt bills on my alts (leveling, gil, tomestones, etc.) and I find that I am all over the place! I even run ARR hunt bills and use the currency to buy aetheryte tickets and sometimes ventures - also works with centurio seals as well.

I find it kind of fun, laid back, no pressure, and I still benefit from it. And running fates for the achievements each week can take place anywhere in the world as well. Now if you have every job at 80, then you might not benefit as much, but I am still leveling a few, so it works for me.

I love visiting all of the zones

I have no reason to actively hang out in them at all, and it's a shame. It feels criminal to let some of these zones become nearly devoid of people.
Why go back once you're done somewhere? What's the draw?
Let's assume a few things for a moment, while keeping in mind that of course this doesn't apply to everyone
    You're done with MSQ.
    You've done all the sidequests.
You've capped all of your shared FATEs.
So why spend any considerable amount of time in any of the zones?
I was excited when the shared FATE thing was announced and I started working on it. I saw it as a reason to be out in the world, playing the game, but it didn't last. Once I was done, that was it. I bought all the things, I got everything I wanted, and then there wasn't any value in continuing. The money made vs. time spent isn't worth it.
So why go out into the world? Why travel through the zones again? Why hang out in Lakeland? Il Mheg? Coerthas Western Highlands? The Lochs?
    There's no draw, and it's a shame.
I want more reasons to be out in the world.

Let's assume a few things for a moment, while keeping in mind that of course this doesn't apply to everyone:

    You're done with school.
    You're have a stable job.
You make enough to support yourself, with a little extra.

So why spend any considerable amount of time in any of the places?

I was excited when the new Avengers movie was announced and I watched it on opening night. I saw it as a reason to be out in the world, doing normal stuff, but it didn't last. Once I was done, that was it. I already own all the other MCU films, I got all the merchandise I wanted, and there wasn't anything else I wanted to watch. The time spent outside vs. what I could be doing at home isn't worth it.

So why go out into the world? Why travel to different places again? Why hang out in the park? The library? The playground? The mall?

    There's no draw, and it's a shame.

There's one thing that will keep you in a zone for awhile. Possibly.

    B rank hunts.

I hate it when I'm looking for a B rank, but instead all I find is Atlantis, Elvis, Jimmy Hoffa, the meaning of life, my car keys, and the TV remote.
