The blue gear on the marketboard is crafted cosmetic gear. It's not real gear. If it says "Replica", it's purely for cosmetic, or if it's a weapon that looks like one of the primal weapons with glowing effects, it's cosmetic.

You can usually spot the cosmetic pieces because their item level will be quite low in comparison to the rarity, too. Item level is the important part. An HQ white piece of gear can be better than a green piece or blue.

I don't think the moogles are selling any tradeable weapons, but there are other weapons that use the same model as them. (They're not unique to the event - they're normally obtained from the stall at Revenant's Toll by trading Behemoth horns from a rare FATE in Coerthas.)

The "most important" things to get (if you care about them) are the Mameshiba Earring and the Falcon airship mount (which was previously a promotional giveaway and hasn't been available elsewhere since then), but the Behemoth items are next after that. I've only seen it happen twice in over two years, and the first time was only after I camped there for hours.

To be exact, it's "real gear" (with stats and usable to a point) versus true cosmetic gear that is Lv1 and has no stats on it, but it's never the best gear available. From memory, some are decent as a "just got to Lv50 and need gear" purchase though - but always check the item level.

The crafted replica/primal gear has never been suitable for actual use. At the time that any of them were released, they were worse than whatever previous "basic" gear set was available. The gap for the level 60 HW crafted gear is especially egregious, since the Antiquated artifact gear back then was even i200 vs. i180 replicas. The level 50 replica armor is i50 and the weapons range from i50-110, which is on par with soldiery tome gear at best and completely outdated on their release.

Regardless of what they were for a fully-equipped player at time of release, they are still - then and now - a decent ilevel range for someone who has just reached Lv50 and wants a decent weapon they can buy with gil rather than tomes.

Most Lv50 primal weapons are i95; Ramuh's are i110 and close to the best thing available on the marketboard at that level - and depending on the current market, may be quite affordable. (I bought some of them for under 10,000 gil not that long ago, gearing up an alt who had reached Lv50.) Or maybe the person plans to use them for glamour anyway, so might as well use them.

I appreciate all the responses. Thanks for clarifying, so selling gear outside of cosmetics for money is not a thing here, or even possible really as most of the desired stuff is bound or untradable.

Crafted gear is usually what's sold for actual use.
