Actually, I heard that Yoshi-P said in an interview that that the entirety of ShB (including patches) would bring the current story arc to 80% completion, meaning that they would tie it off in 6.0 or later. Ofcourse I could be remembering that wrong....what are you trying to say here?
It sounds a bit like the plan they had for the First - to use the Warrior of Light to tip the balance in favour of the Light and trigger a rejoining that way. I doubt thats gonna work a second time...
Looking at this from a very cold and logical perspective: There are only about 5 patches of Ascian-shennanigans left, considering that they said that Shadowbringers will put an end to the whole Zodiark-Hydaelyn-plot and that only one of the real Ascians is left. I dont think that we're going to see much of other shards WoLs nor Elidibus meddling with us directly.

During the fan fest for shadowbringers it was said that this expansion would focus on the Asians and zodiark while the next one would continue with the Garlean threat.
Sometimes you just got to have Some fun

They sort of tied in the Garleans in with the Ascians at this point, what withZenos killing his father and going off to who knows where to find out how to possess Zodiark/Hydaelyn
Which is a bummer because... I mean...garleans are just normal. Not much thrill in defeating an opponent that's trivial l. Its probably gonna be like SB all over again. Dry and boring. TBF the whole plot after this has to come up with something bigger than an interdimensional God like creature.
