Better than the current system that punishers the buyers in favor of rich mass-sellers who force buyers to buy way more than they actually need.
I hate seeing a GC quest for fish for example come up that wants 3 fish. Go tot he MB and wouldn't you know it, everybody is listing 5s.
I don't want 5.
I want 3.
AND THEY KNOW THAT.
They know that desperate FSH will buy their stacks of 5 and screw them over, because they know you only want 3. And then when you try to sell the 2 extra, no other FSH will buy it because it leaves them 1 shy of completing their quest and they'd have to buy your 2 + someone else's 5, so you can't even really sell the extra very well at all.
They do it on purpose.
So we make things a little harder for ultra-rich mass sellers. Please forgive me if I don't shed tears for the people who have hundreds of millions of gil if such a system would cut into their profits in favor of the buyers who don't have anywhere near as much money.
One, that's hilarious because buyers already buy the cheapest stuff on the market, and everybody has their limit as to what they are willing to pay. If I see 40 items for 20g and the next one up is 50g, I'll buy the 20g and then when I get to the 50 I'll grumble... depends how badly I need it. I might just say "screw it I'll get it myself." I definitely won't pay 100g, though, if the majority of people are selling at 50. Maybe the people selling at 100g should take a look at it and understand that 100g is way too much if there are 150 players selling at 50g. The current system already works like this.80 people put up a new item: {Special Ore} for 100g each.
150 people put up a new item: {Special Ore} for 50g ea. (They're now at the top of the list. Aka, they undercut.)
40 people put up a new item {Special ore} for 20g ea. (They're now at the top of the list. Aka, they undercut.)
The 80 players at 100g make no money
The 150 players at 50g make no money
The 40 people at 20g sell out
The market is now tanked and it's only a buyer's market.
I'm sorry, but some people want way too much for their stuff.
And if 40 people sell the 20g out, and then the next one up is 50g, I'm sure those would sell too. The 100g people can just eat their listing fees IMO. Price your stuff competitively and your stuff won't sit on the AH unsold. You say it's "convenience" that you pay more for bulk.... uh, IRL, it's the opposite. You're supposed to get stuff cheaper in bulk. Why would I want to pay more for larger stacks? That's the opposite of how it should be.
