Official HD Textures pack?

I know that there's probably reasons for not including HD textures in the base game, but if possible, could we get HD textures as an optional download for us PC users? I'd love to see hair that doesn't artifact and better eye textures.

Since it's an optional thing it doesn't need to be absolutely everything, but at least having HD hair and other basic character customizations would be nice.

If added will be on the mogstation for 100 dollars USD. People will gladly open their wallets for it while complaining of course.

As long as they come to ps4. I also wonder if they will update the game to 60fps 4k for the ps5. Maybe HDR finally.

There most likely will never be HD textures cause SE never created any. They designed the game using the current textures that you see, So they would have to make HD textures from scratch.

That's a bit like saying wow would never update any models, especially the player ones. (Hint, they did)
It's not impossible to do HD textures from scratch, player models and hair need it most, but they reuse a lot of texture assets for like leaves, tree bark, rocks, etc so updating those would result in updating a lot of the world with very little work.

One of my biggest gripes with the game has to be generic ground textures, though. They look just as bad, if not worse, than games released around 2005.

Neither did LoTRO but they eventually added an optional HD texture pack once enough demand from the player base was put forward. It likely won't happen for a long time if it ever does, but it's not like there isn't a precedent already set in the MMO market.

If they do it be brought out ffxiv remake with new hd package. When they ever going to add dx12. At least they could bring out a ENB program for it. Reshade is pretty good but think enb might be a little better.

If I am going to lose content so things look "better" I have absolutely no interest. Also, WoW still looks terrible. I don't see how you can even make any comparison.

There could be a community project to create unofficial ones...It'd probably be against the TOS though. However, there is s HD texture project at the moment for FFXI. Hell, I suspect with how good neural network AI's have gotten, I expect there could be a lazier solution that would at least offer a fair improvement. Its what modders have been doing to boost the resolution and quality of background renders in FFVII, VIII and IX.

Of course it'd be preferable and way less dodgy if the devs did it. But the impression I often get is that their resources are pretty stretched. But I guess if a mog station purchase as suggested, it might be a worthy investment, as I think plenty would buy it. Depending on how big the job is and how much they can get away with charging.
