    They would need to make it such that most if not all damage is avoidable since not all jobs can self heal. Also would need to scale back the target's HP and their damage output to account for nontanks. But then you'd have jobs like tanks having an easier time because of extra defense/HP compared to say a ranged DPS. Then it stops being an extreme trial and just a regular solo instance. We had a few of these already. The Lakshmi one in 4.2 comes to mind.

    Having put a little more thought into this, it would be difficult to design MSQ instances with an EX mode considering the number of different jobs being thrown at it. They would have to tailor it to each role/job and the instance adjusts itself depending on what you go in there as. So I was thinking they would be specific for each job. A solo instance isn't going to have EX trial/Savage type mechanics because they do require teamwork. However, I don't think this means we just toss the idea out.

    As I was saying before, a way to make these things challenging is to force the player to utilize and optimize their resources in order to win. As an example, there could be a mechanic for a NIN that he/she has to run to DPS it down, but because of the distance the only way to get their and destroy it in time is to Shukuchi there. Multitasking healers with mechanics that need to be dodged, while also making them heal something or someone, plus also have to DPS something down will provide challenge, trust me.

    In short, I think they key is making the player have to be smart with how they use their abilities and tight windows. A misstep highly increases the probability of failure. It can be done, and it would be fun. I believe some of those lacking in confidence to try savage content might get an itch or two to give it a go if they could successfully clear harder solo fights.

    Jut putting together random thoughts:

    In Dragons Dogma there was kind of a worldwide solo raid boss. You could enter the instance once a day and fight it until it would retreat, and the damage of all players who fought him that week would then be accumulated to see if it had been defeated. If so, there was loot for everyone who contributed, and next week it would be back with more HP, so it became harder to kill with each iteration. If you died while fighting it, your damage didn't count and your try for the day was done.

    Granted after 150 iterations it got stale and the thing became pretty much unkillable, but it was a fun activity, pretty much unlike anything I had experienced prior. I'd like something like that, a little fun daily "solo raid" where it actually makes a difference if you die or not, that has players working on something together while still allowing them to do it when it suits their schedule.

    I do feel XIV is rather lacking in solo combat content.

    Something like WoW's Brawler's Guild that lets you go up against tough bosses that have tricky mechanics and push your DPS capabilities would be nice.

    Right now the Masked Carnivale is the closest thing we have to that though I'd rather have something available to all classes.

    That's... not how the fight worked, not at all...

    However, that fight in Dragon's Dogma was an awesome design and I would welcome something like this here in the game. But I would prefer it to be multiplayer content, maybe something like Eureka where you have a 100 man instance wich you can enter solo, team up, fight against the boss for a while and then leave. And when the boss finally dies you get rewards for the amount of damage you did / participation.

    Extra rewards for actually killing it (being there at the end) would be nice too, but that would probably melt the servers >.>

    Regarding solo extremes... no, I don't want that. Too much time and effort needed for niche content in an MMORPG. But I am all for Extremes for 4 man groups.

    I think it would be possible, just add trusts to it. Especially with the scripted nature of a lot of boss fights, they can likely be counted on to do their own thing and contribute as much as is needed for tanking, healing, etc, without necessarily hand holding the player. At that point whether you win or lose depends entirely on the player's contribution.

    I would like some hard solo fights outside of doing solo deep dungeons. Whether they're "extreme" or whatever doesn't matter. The weekly masked carnivale is sometimes challenging. There are a few moderate/advanced weekly challenges that were definitely a bigger pain than others.

    Maybe there's an NPC that can heal you but it's scripted when and how much - so if you're getting hit too much by avoidable stuff you will never make it through because the NPC ally won't spam heal you. Or maybe they go the Duty action route like they did for the 4-man EX.

    I'd welcome something like the Mage Tower that WoW had in Legion, challenging fights that test your specific role's capabilities to the maximum with the reward of transmog.
