I couldn't agree more. As i posted in another thread, my first day back playing i was leveling conjurer and accidently agroed 3 mobs 2 levels higher than me. I lived... and got a exp chain to boot. No interruptions to my casting, not need to time my spells.. don't get me wrong. It was fun, being a mage and blasting away mobs is always fun. But with the amount of mana. lack of needing to time spells inbetween getting attacked... it was easy.

I get mobs being easy the first 10 levels or so (sorry, haven't made it past 8 as i don't spend a ton of time online.. and refuse to do the same leves over and over).. but its also the time when you learn how to play. Having a game so forgiving is only going to retard that process (if it even exists). If you make a mistake, you should be punnished. I shouldn't have to do a 4 star leve at level 4 to finally die.. though a 3 star of the same was a cake walk... /shrug.

There you go, I just found a solution in 20 seconds. I imagine if the devs actively think about it they could do a lot better.
I agree. We need "party mobs" that are specifically meant for groups of players to take on. These mobs have higher hp and stats than normal mobs their level and return higher exp. These mobs will be located in strongholds, dungeons, and any other designated group exp spot.

I wish the battles would last long proportion to what they are, but not if its just one mob(You know the exceptions) What I like about XIV over XI is you are often fighting more than 1 mob, sometimes a lot! I do not want it to go back to XI where everyone stands there and they pull 1 mob, and it nearly kills the party. I like more enemies because that is what a bunch of people with sharp weapons and damaging magick are capable of handling.

I prefer the battles in 11 over 14 personally, as the OP said its hard to get an attack off sometimes before the thing is dead and then you just feel like a spare cog, granted its better now that THM has instant cast spells.

AoE fighting is ok but because the monsters hit so hard its hard to survive it as a mage and the hate control in this game sucks.

    Disagree.

Battles are quite fun as they are now. Could be improved yes, hopefully one day the silly lag will be gone and WSs won't lock you to the ground, but it is quite good as it is now. I find myself wanting to do Moogles and Ifrits just for the fun of it, even though I need nothing from them.

For the sake of comparison, when I think about dungeons/raids I need nothing from in WoW, I would never want to set foot in them unless some friend really needed me in there...

Yea but NM's and primals are completely different to standard mobs, which is the OP's point isn't it ?

Back in 2002 I liked the slow fights in XI, but I don't think beating on a crab for 3 mins is fun anymore :/ For my taste, the short fights, high tempo, high exp reward combo works well

I wish they would just get rid of this "you can solo to cap" thing.

It's an mmo for christ's sake, don't give them the entitlement to make everything easier for the sake of soloing. No offense to these people, but I like my party content when I'm paying to play an multiplayer game.

Back to topic, I wish all fights were a lot longer. Most of the time, it takes a weaponskill or two to kill the mobs, and bam they are dead. Who likes that? I don't like racing to get one WS off.

Also, if they made fights longer and kept the exp the same they'd kill two birds with one stone. People are complaining there is no progression in this game and racing to level cap is detrimental to this game.

Works both ways deadrising, although I prefer party play as its easier to gain XP and more fun, thats not to say I don't enjoy soloing sometimes aswell.

Part the reason I like WoW is because I can solo to end game and then choose to group up for the real content.

According to Yoshi-p he wants something similar to that.

That being said I find the battle in WoW more enjoyable than 14 at the moment, for both standard and boss fights.
