It was mentioned awhile back that they couldn't see housing in Ishgard until things thawed out a bit...

    Gunbreaker questline spoilers ahead:
Near the end of the Gunbreaker questline you escort a Garlean defector to Ishgard. He is tasked with creating a heating system for Ishgard. This may be their way of setting up a warmer environment for yards and such so they don't have to deal with snow. I still think we're quite awhile off with no preview as worldofneil mentioned.

That's an interesting little tidbit, though it could also be a throwaway line. Like "Yeah a noble hired me to make a heater system for their mansion." My fingers are crossed, but I'm not getting my hopes up too high.

It was a city wide Ceruleum heating system he was tasked to make.

Judging from the comments here about Yoshi's statement, I'd say players are looking way too much into it. I'd wager it was more of a comment on "we couldn't develop player housing wards that look all nice while the rest of Ishgard is still in shambles. That'd be too ridiculous/jarring/out of place."

And, while there may yet exist the possibility of Ishgard housing, I'd personally expect chances to be slim, for similar reasons. How odd would it be for the new players getting to 3.0 for the first time, seeing the city still dealing with the war, and then walking into the residential wards thinking "oh, how conveniently lucky that this section has been spared any damage during this multi-generational war."

Well let the new players think that, it's a clue to Nidhogg's true motives that will eventually be revealed by Hraesvelgr.

We still don't know how the city will be presented after the restoration. If it's like Mor Dhona then it could be forever changed for everyone after a world completes it. I just thought it would have been a neat little connection from that bit of the GBR storyline. I think there's going to be quite a few people disappointed if/when the snow disappears though.

The fact that the Ishgard restoration is accomplished server-wide, not individually, and them also mentioning that some servers can finish ahead of others makes it different that something like the Doman Enclave restoration does hint at a reward at the end, so I'd bet the odds are better than 50/50 that we get a new housing ward.

They said the area we would be working on would be a new area. Likely the city will remain as is for those working through the MSQ with the new area unlocking after completing a certain point in the MSQ (would guess definitely after 3.3).
