It all depends on whether said EX trials feature exclusive moves or not.
Garuda's Feather Rain and Shiva's Glass Dance are some examples of moves that are only used in their EX versions.
So if Nidhogg's Hot Tail/Hot Wings were "learnable", then you'd be in the clear.
But yeah, I can already think of some (Lv.60) EX-exclusive moves, like Sephirot's Force Field (IF it's "learnable", that is).
I'm equally sad this wasn't a higher priority to incentivize. It's a very clever solve to an age old problem with this game: most recent content is spammed, anything prior is quickly discarded and abandoned. By bringing in a new way to interact with all previous content, they effectively double the amount of content the game provides with a minimal amount of development time. All they have to do is make a full party of Blue Mages synced in the content have a 100% learning rate.
You get to play through old content again as if it's the first time, with a flexible party that can rearrange its skills as needed between attempts.
It's a !@#%ing travesty this wasn't how they did it in the first place - It'd make the skill gathering much more fun because the most expedient way of learning will be doing the content as its intended with a whole new toolbox.
It's a pretty big no-brainer from this point of view.
