Ishgard Restoration - Potential New Housing?

Please forgive me if I posted this in the wrong forum thread, wasn't sure if it was acceptable to put this in housing or general discussion, but it's something I wanted to ask you all!

So I've read that the future content update - Ishgard Restoration will allow us to help rebuild the aforementioned city. Do you think that our efforts will lead up into some sort of Housing revamp or at the very least a new Ishgard Housing District with new wards?

If you think we may get a Housing revamp, what reasonable requests/ideas (either big or small) from the community do you think would be great to see implemented?

Honestly if they add housing with Ishgard it'll prolly be the same system but more wards. I think a lot of folks are hoping for instanced housing, similar to apartments but with the interior sizes of the houses.

Cherry blossoms. Put them everywhere! Seriously though, cherry blossoms in a snowy zone would look amazing.

For some reason a lot of people think housing is related to this. Or that Ishgard/Coerthas housing is going to be a thing.
When I haven't actually seen anything to suggest it's coming.

That isn't to say it isn't. But I haven't actually seen anything about it.

For all that we know the Ishgard Restoration could be no different to the Doma Reconstruction efforts, except it being more DoH/L focused. If actual housing in some way gets added then cool, but I wouldn't be so optimistic.

Personally I don't think this is SE's plan, but the housing crisis in NA might be pushing them to change their minds. They said it's "up to the players" which is completely ambiguous, but logically a housing crisis should prompt SE into action? Who knows.

At the NA FanFest keynote address when the Ishgard reconstruction was announced, YoshiP (with Koji translating) talked about how players wanted to go back to Ishgard, "live in Ishgard" but before that could happen, the reconstruction would have to take place. The remarks were about 25-30 minutes into the keynote address if you want to go back to watch it.

He seemed to be implying that Ishgard housing was in the works though nothing more specific has been said since to confirm that the housing is coming or what form it would take. Certainly it would be have been something unusual for YoshiP to say during a keynote address if they didn't have something planned.

The Reconstruction is supposed to be discussed in more detail in the second live letter for 5.1. Who knows if they'll have any housing news for us then.

The way Koji translated Yoshi-P's statements did make it seem like "fix Ishgard, and then you can live there" but I'm not gonna take that at face value until its is explicitly stated "Once the Firmament has been completely built, we will add housing wards to Ishgard depending on the servers that have completed it".... so yeah, here's hoping for more info in live letter 55 in the beginning-mid October.

If I have learned anything in the nearly 10 years I have played this game, it's to trust nothing that Yoshida says, or that you think he said, until you actually see it in the game. He doesn't do it so often anymore but it still happens from time to time. He used to tell us about so many things that never made it into the game and SE ignored any questions about them.

I mean we don't know anything for sure so we can only speculate, but personally I think it will lead onto housing, but not until at least 5.4 (approximately end of September 2020)

I believe that the Ishgard restoration will be similar to the Doman restoration and as such with each patch a bit more of it will be rebuilt until a future patch (5.4?) where it's habitable.

Doing it this way gives us the illusion that we're directly affecting it (well we are lore wise even if server wise they're just pushing out a new update with each patch...) and it also gives SE more time before they have to deploy new housing servers etc, but they can also say things like "it's coming" and "you have to build it first", getting us off their backs :P

I'm happy to be proved wrong though!
