I mean, if I was that sprout and legitimately confused, I would've asked about it. When I started playing I could barely understand how WHM (of all jobs) worked, and more often than not people were glad to correct me or give tips. Keeping silent and ignoring/disregarding others is the worst thing you could be doing, because it shows you really have no interest in learning nor improving. (without getting into the you don't pay mah sub shenanigans)

In some cases not replying can suggest a disinterest in improving, but not always. It seems especially unlikely in this case: a sprout in Sastasha. Perhaps they're simply nervous - I know that when I first began playing MMOs I rarely spoke at all, it took me a while to relax and gain enough confidence to ask for help if I needed it. Perhaps they were concerned their party would react badly if they openly admitted that they didn't have a full grasp of their skills/role. Whilst we know that it would've been far better for the sprout to say something, for someone completely new that may not have seemed an option (assuming they were new and not an alt or bot). If this does turn out to be the case, this experience is hardly going to help them settle in and encourage them to open up; Being kicked from their very first dungeon from a vote initiated by a mentor, of all people?

They could also be on PS4 and not have a keyboard. And not know about the controller's virtual keyboard, which is a pain in the ass to use anyway.

Interesting encounter in today's Alliance roulette Syrcus Tower.
Tank had the basic level 50 gear
with a level 44 sword, and all accessories except neck and the self-syncing earrings were in the sub-40 category.
Apparently he was on his way to buy a better sword, but duty popped while doing so.
Didn't cause any issues, as his tanking prowess wasn't needed, but... he stuck the whole way in Iron Will and couldn't even contest the actual main tank. Our party's aggro table looked like something out of the pre-Shadowbringers world. :P

Had an Amaurot run where I was healing and everything was going super duper well.

We get to the last boss, and depth perception be damned, I fall off the platform like a dingus. The two DPS with me die soon after but the Dark Knight... What a god, he solo'd the boss and tanked the raid-wide lasers after all the safe zones were gone.

I think if you're going to tell people what to do, you should probably learn the skills
people have these days. Because shouting "PROTECT PROTECT!" for example when it doesn't exist anymore
makes you look downright silly.

let's just say this masochist is also a vindictive a-hole. We get to the 1st boss and I just don't heal him; He can't be bothered to do his job, I can't be bothered to do mine (I heal the DPS because they're doing their job so I respond in kind), which I inform the Tank as such before rezzing them. Next set of mobs, STILL no Shield Oath and I again let him die before we initiate vote kick and it passes.

When people don't realize they're really talking into a mirror when lobbing an insult.
