I've seen everyone with Mameshiba (I use it) and Black Hayate lately.
I rather people show off minions and stuff so we can see their cute interactions
like those two for example.
I really can't say I give a rats bottom about someones golden shiny bird lol.

It's basic human nature to be competetive or to want to stand out. even on the most fundamental levels that you may not even be directly aware of. but subcosciously everythings a competition. or a coparison to other people.
it's like the neighbors syndrome. your neighbour gets a car thats newer than yours... you think about replacing yours... your neighbor gets new carpets suddenly yours are old and tatty....
in a bar with a bunch of friends you want to be the one the ladies look at..
in the gym and your best mate is lifting 115lbs. you're gonna try 120lb..
there's millions of examples of it and it's not really a bad thing it's one of humanities biggest motivators...
it's that competition that keeps you going. its why people who go to the gym with buddies or groups go a lot more than people who go alone and end up paying for memberships they never use... the motivator isn't there
even when people say they don't care what others have they often do, which is why there's frequents complaints and requests to get things added to the mogstation or whatever because someone has something they can't have and it ain't fair...
them not having it makes them feel inferior or a lesser being in comparison to others who do have...
thats generally why virtually nothing within this game holds any value even those shiny mounts you coughed up $40 for on the mogstation just sit there in your mount collection and almost never see the light of day... also why so many people get bored of the game so quickly because nothing they attain or accomplish holds any value or significance.
This thread raises an interesting question in my mind though.
I know for a FACT that the "hoofing it" debuff exists. It fires when you enter a certain dwarf house in Kholusa to forcefully dismount you in the confined space. Ergo, "no mount zones" can exist.
It begs to question why this hasn't been applied to certain areas where crowded mounts can be problematic to getting to an NPC.
I have never seen this. The closest I ever came to it was in Rhalgr's Reach at the DoH/L table during a DDOS attack when everything was taking forever to load. The NPCs eventually loaded even with masses of people, minions and mounts surrounding the table but that was the DDOS doing its thing, not the crowd. Heck, even at the songstress's concert with hundreds of people crammed in that small area around the quest giver NPC and merchant loaded in just fine. FFXIV loads things in a radius based on your location, so if you aren't seeing the NPC trying moving a bit. Pressing X also helps by getting rid of player names in addition to the player hitboxes which can obscure the NPC.

I'm sooooo glad there's no more places to "show off" our mounts, there's no point on that, want to show off?, there's at least 20 different maps to do that, let Elmore in peace without people standing on NPCs, Bells and stuff like that trying to "show off" their mounts by force to you as someone cares about it :3

EX trials may not be the hardest things in the game, but the difficulty and rewards are usually sufficient enough to encourage people to try them. If they want the mount for their collection and/or show offs, they need to earn them. Even if the fights are done unsynced, the players still need to adhere to completing the hard-hitting mechanics (Thordan EX and Sephirot EX come to mind.)It's basic human nature to be competetive or to want to stand out. even on the most fundamental levels that you may not even be directly aware of. but subcosciously everythings a competition. or a coparison to other people.

I still treasure and favor my Sophia EX mount a lot, even if plenty of others do get it unsynced for several reasons:
1. I earned it when it was synced.
2. Sophia EX was one of the first EX trials I took seriously and cleared often with pugs.
3. The color, aesthetics, light element, and model of the Sophic Lanner are very beautiful IMO.

Wait until the next Eureka zones. Then you can get your so-called validation.
