It's not "3 or 4" servers that are full. I don't think there's any housing available at all on any of the NA data centers; there might be a handful. Most of the JP and EU worlds are full by now too IIRC.

I just don't know why you seem to think housing is only in demand because it's scarce.

I'm inclined to disagree on the first point, but believe what you will. EU / JP still have plenty of ghost-towns.

And I don't think housings demand is purely because of its scarcity. I would just rather prefer it doesn't lose any worth it currently has, by diluting the pool further. I'm all for people getting a house. I'm NOT all for making housing easy for everyone. Bit of a difference.

Tell me, what use would come from everyone having a house? Complete with every system that comes with it

-All grown foodstuffs (Including Onions) will get gouged into obscurity, ruining the cost
-All furniture items will get gouged, ruining the profit of the housing market

Just to name two, but I'm sure there are more. At this point, anything SE does could have dire consequences and peoples "recommendations" have those same issues. It's a fine line that they have to walk.

I hate to chime in at all on this topic, but I would like to note that housing on JP is currently extremely abundant and easily available. This is largely because the rate people earn gil is very slow compared to NA, making it hard for people to horde houses at their current prices. Only select servers are 'full' among the 32-servers across 3-Data Centers.

Get an apartment if the demolition timer worries you. There is no demolition timer on apartments. The only way for you to lose one is to voluntarily relinquish it yourself.

Is it true that all of NA is full or nearly full, then? If the suggestion is that NA players who want houses should instead play on EU or JP servers, where they may have high ping or not even understand the majority language of the servers, that's not a solution.

Also, there's more to gardening than onions. A lot of people who own houses now don't even garden. Housing is also important for FCs to access airships and submarines.

To answer your concern, I would not recommend anyone to move to EU or JP solely for housing availability unless your primary and possibly -only- interest is housing and you want a decent environment to strengthen your language skills.

As far as I understand with regards to housing demand between the three regions, NA continues to be the highest shortage of housing for numerous reasons while JP has an abundant supply for veterans and newcomers alike. I cannot speak on behalf of EU because I do not have any understanding of the situation on EU.

And yes, there are many different things that you can do with Gardening. But the majority (of people I know, at least) do it just to avoid the 2 - 3m Onion cost for Chocobos. On top of the rather tired point of "Adding plots isn't simple".

Honestly, it's like people intentionally avoid or ignore the information floating about and instead assume that they know best, when they're not even employed by SE and know about as much as the rest of us do regarding how things can / should work. Yes, NA needs more plots, but adding more won't fix the issue. It'll merely delay it. What happens when the new wards get full? Add more plots? What about the next time? and the next time?

All the while, plenty of the servers that aren't having a "housing crisis" become more and more desolate, to the point of actually becoming a noteworthy problem with wasted data. You can't expect to have a good chance of getting it when you're #1,098,245,872 in line, since the NA datacenters are congested to the point that the "Datacenter split" was seemingly not a fix. Because we're having the same issues.

If you're going to talk about what you get for having a house and complain about people "ignoring information" then you should know what having a house actually entails, don't you think? FC airships and submarines are not the Diadem/Exploratory Voyage system, they're a completely separate function available only to FCs that you must have a house to access, by using the FC workshop. As stupid as it is there is no other way to access this.
