Used that site once myself, came out perfect on the first try.

That would be the site that's giving the wrong dirrections 5 times in a row. That would be the one I'm complaining about, yes. There's a bit of rng involved too. What I do from the default color is calculate to the color I want and then follow the feeding order (View feeding order option at the bottom after you calculate).
I used those dirrections and, attempt to get from yellow to abysal blue, it ended up at marsh green. So I asked it to tell me marsh green to abysal blue, and then it ended up royal blue. So I asked it for royal blue to abysal blue, and it ended up grape purple. I asked it for grape purple to abysal blue, and it ended up woad blue.
So, we claim to be getting it from the same site, but what it told me, isn't what it told two of you.
https://ffxivchocobo.com/en/woad-blue/abyssal-blue
it says for me:
Valfruit × 1
O'Ghomoro Berries × 1
... this can't possibly go wrong. but I have the strangest feeling that this won't work either.
For some reason, using the same page as others, I'm getting the wrong answers.
And yes, I understand that I've been using void and abysal interchangably, but I've been trying for abysal the entire time, and picking it in the menue, I mean the one with a hint of purple.
Wish me luck

You shouldn't use void/abyssal interchangeably because you're just confusing people.
But as said before, that site used to have a disclaimer that there's RNG involved in coloring, when I got my soot black bird it took me 6 tries, it kept jumping between blue and green.
Make sure you turn your chocobo back into the desert yellow (original color) to start with by feeding it a lemon.
If you don't feed correctly it won't work. You need to feed one fruit at a time from each stack, (alternating each fruit type), rinse and repeat until you've fed all the fruit required for your desired color. If your feed one whole stack of the same fruit without alternating you won't get your desired color.
I've used the same calculator every time I dyed my chocobo and it hasn't failed me yet. If it failed you, then you're doing something wrong.
Oh and if you're feeding or redoing each time from all these wrong colors you are getting and not starting out with the desert yellow, then it will not turn out right. So I suggest to start from the original chocobo color, rather than from Grape Purple. Han Lemons are cheap, takes the color back to the original desert yellow and works instantly.
So from Desert Yellow to Void Blue...........
Xelphatol Apple × 16
Mamook Pear × 22
O'Ghomoro Berries × 34

Again, there's some rng involved. I've used it for multiple chocobos and followed the feeding exactly. Some got to the color the first try, others required me to go at it with my slower approach. Resetting to the default color means a lot more chocobo munchies getting thrown at it.
Yeah but he keeps getting wrong colors, seems to me that is using the more munchies then if he went back to the base color to start.Again, there's some rng involved. I've used https://ffxivchocobo.com/en/ several times. Takes 2 to 3 feedings usually because there is some RNG the calculator can't account for but otherwise has always gotten me to the color I want after a dew feeding sessions at most.

Okay, the last feeding was exactly two fruits. Both worked, I got the "new feathers" after both ones.
Royal blue. Ended up at royal blue, from woad blue.
Fine, this is close enough, I'll stay here with this one.
I've always had good luck with that site, I've never had to do more than 2 feedings to get to the color I wanted, and several of the times I've ended up at the right color the first time. As previously stated, the RGB values you're getting from each fruit is slightly RNG which is why you might end up with slightly different colors than you want to end up at sometimes.
