Housing glitch fixed? I hope not...

Storage placement has always worked exactly as you describe: it places the item's placement anchor at the same height as your character's feet a few feet away from you. There's never been an incarnation of it that allowed you to place an imitation widow directly on a partition, or if there was it was one of those that was in the game for only a couple of weeks.

You'll need to use the trick where you place the partition so close to the wall that the window snaps to your partition.

Hmm I see...Maybe it was something that was temporary. Guess it's time to go back and look at the other glitch to put stuff close to walls and on stairs. Thanks for the clarification!

Just dragged a window out of storage, lined it up where I wanted on the partition and used the placement hotkey to set it on the partition, so there is a way and it does currently work. Just not sure how to do that with a controller.

I don't use a controller/PS4 myself so have no idea if anything has changed for PS4 users. The only think I can think of is check to make certain you haven't disabled counter placement by accident. It won't snap to the partition surface for placement if you have.

Like Dustytome said, once the window is removed from storage and waiting for final placement it's easy to move it to the correct position on the partition and attach it directly using the subcommand key bind (instead of the usual mouse click). I've been doing it for months, including last week when I redecorated my FC's house. Supposedly it is possible with a controller as well though I don't have a controller to try it myself.

You can use the same trick to place most wall-mounted items on vertical surfaces that have collision without using the original floating glitch. I've placed event posters on the sides of wardrobes and cabinets, wall lanterns on the Ivy and Glade Pillars, etc. Just be aware that the wall-mounted items don't attach to what you're placing them on (unless a partition) so if you move the item later, the wall-mounted item will remain behind.

Hey All!

So, question...You guys know that housing glitch where you put something in the storage then right click or press square on ps4 to make it come out and hit "place" to place it where you normally wouldn't be able to? I haven't been able to do this for a couple of weeks now and am starting to wonder if it was patched out or if it's just me. I play on ps4 and when I hit the square button instead of giving me the little menu to place it just straight up places it close to where I'm standing. No options, no moving it around, just bam it's placed right there. :/

I just realized that one of my FC mates was having this issue. The ultimate solution was to make sure that Display Item Preview is checked

Just one final update, things been solved:

Turns out "as some have mentioned" the glitch still works, it's just that somewhere along the way somehow my "Display Item Preview" was *unchecked*. I don't know when or how that happened, but I hadn't noticed. Since rechecking that everything works as normal and can now do the glitch I was explaining. Wanna give a special thanks to Jojoya and Elamys for the help, as you guys tipped me off in the right direction. Have a good day and thanks to all who actually had something constructive to say!
