The Exact same thing happened to me Fen. Clearly any idea in your head that isn't generated from the part of the brain that LOVES FFXIV is contrary to everything the community stands for. Do I like these mounts? I do not. Can I live with them? Of course. Great, i can ride a Goobue for purely cosmetic purposes (because i'm sure it won't run faster than chocobos or anything. The servers can barely keep up with load times at chocobo speeds) after doing a quest that takes a full 5 minutes. Now what?
