Melee Gear Design Contest Winner - Finally in 5.1?

So the metal gear one won? and the others won't be used? Cause I honestly prefer the others, metal gear is cool and all but it's very bland, it lacks imagination and creativity.

I do wish they'd at least retain the runners-up as 'potential' gear designs if they find a situation that fits their theme in the future. There's been more than a few designs from those contests that haven't won but that I desperately want, and it's just such a shame we're unlikely to ever see them. The Caster / Healer portion of the contest was rife with designs like that in particular... I can't say I honestly liked either winner. :/

( Some of the short list entries from the 2016 Tank Gear contest were really darn good as well... That's probably the only contest where the Winners and Runners Up never appealed to me. )

I agree and the range one looks very similar to MCH AF and other gear we have.
They just took the easiest way out and picked those. I would hope they add the runner up like they did with hair or something. :/

I Hope all versions of the metal gear one have pretty similar mask and vieras/ronso being able to use It, i want that mask for tanks ^^

If it's going to follow the trend from Stormblood I'd assume 5.1 will have the Melee set, and 5.3 will have the Ranged set.

Would be neat if they did a whole Devs pick one, the community picks the other. Like the DS2 shield contest.

I like the steampunk ranged DPS set, but I would much rather have the Delinquent Striker's set for melee over the actual winner.

I'm not a fan of the actual winner. The Delinquent Striker set and the one above it in the white robes would have been perfect.

I was REALLY disappointed in the tank design winners. They were pretty much exactly like half the tank pieces already in the game, just with slightly different colors and ornamentation. If you told me they picked the winner based on what would be easiest to implement in-game, I would totally believe you. :/ There were some really clever and out-there entries that I was excited about; the winning entries didn't even ding my radar.

I'm definitely looking forward to the Melee DPS winner; that outfit, with its skintight, one-piece bodysuit, is really like no other gear we have!

Yeah I like a lot of the submissions, but I like the one that won as well. Excited to use it on say Ninja perhaps, if it looks right once it's in game.

To each their own. I don't think it lacks imagination or creativity at all...it just isn't to your personal liking. I personally love that set and can't wait to see it. Some of the other ones were good too though.
