Does Elidibus actually think he can defeat the WoL?

I think as lahabrea I would just wait for the WoL to die of old age.
I don't see the need to rush anything, the first rejoining happened thousands of years ago, and the last only 5 years ago. Surely I could wait a 100 years for the next one, at least the pesky OP WoL wouldnt be here anymore and I would just have to be careful to crush the next one before it gets too late

The funny thing is, that we learned that they can see the color of ones soul and that we have a special one that they should know. So let us die of old age, then be on the look out for us being reborn, find us and kill us when we are young. Heck Elidibus knew us when we were still a weak adventurer and yet instead of taking care of us right away, he let us life but at the same time never really tried to get us on his side.

I think at that point in time we were still an anomaly, and he was trying to figure out what exactly we were. That's my theory, anyway.

Since Lahabrea was talking about laws of nature unraveling because of Hydealyn it is possible that they can no longer wait. Otherwise indeed it would be smarter to wait for WoL to die on their own.

I can only assume that the longer the Sundering is in effect of the Source and shards the harder it becomes to restore the world to its original self and eventually it may become permanent thus no matter what they do they may no longer be able to force the shard back into the source.

If this is the case we maybe at this point thus they must act now or their chance is lost forever since reality may set itself as the Natural Order.

I see a big difference between Emet-Selch and Elidibus.

For a time, I think that Emet-Selch fought back his tempering by zodiac by trying to see on the new "humans" an interest (maybe in memory of his "old friend").

He lost this during all his years, but recovered it while meeting us and the Scions, even at the end.

He didn't have to spare the Scions after Innocence defeat, he didn't have to tell us where he was going. He could have just waited out of our reach until we became a Sin Eater. But he didn't until the end, even if he used all his power, a part of him wanted us to best him.

I don't see any of this in Elidibus, he will use any means to defeat us, and won't give us any hint on how to defeat him.

Honestly, the issue I see with them trying to wait us out is that we are now over half way rejoined. We may be nigh on immortal ourselves now.

Nah, we're the main character in an anime like plotline. He has no chance against us. Tho expect tons of thrills and plottwists.

Well, he thought he could beat us in 4.55 ... and he *did*. Kind of.

I was actually surprised to see his near-breakdown. Since absolutely everything in the game seems to happen according to his plan, in the back of my mind I'd assumed he WANTED us to off Emet-Selch and Lahabrea; that he'd gain some major benefit from being the only one left.
But ... I guess not.
