Honestly either a dualshock 4 or xbox one controller beats a steam controller any day in terms of functionality/usability. But I don't see how using the steam controller could be considered botting. The dualshock 4 has the mousepad, and connected to the pc, can provide most of the same functions that the steam controller can (I believe).

Two words that sold me: Grip buttons.

Seriously, even though it took some getting used to having touchpads, the addition of two extra buttons made it for me. This was before I knew all the neat shit the Steam API could do with the touchpads, such as touch menus and outer-ring binding, but I've also grown to love the shape of the controller itself. I know I'm an outlier here, but even after trying the others, I'll still swear by this thing for PC gaming.

Use whatever works for you though! FF14 has pretty great controller support; I mostly prefer this since I also have a plethora of games that aren't so great for controller.
