The generally accepted meaning/romanization for デジョン is "Dezone", at least that was the accepted one in XI. Warp II was pretty much always shortened as D2 and whenever someone wondered why that was the explanation given.
Semi-related question, is it possible to install the FFXIV client in 2 languages (EN and JP) on the same system? At least unlike XI you don't need to jump through hoops (and use software barred by the ToS) just to type in Japanese using the EN client, but being able to play with the interface/logs in Japanese would be a good way to force myself to have regular practice.
I'm on NA client playing JP, for FFXIV in the config (not in-game one) there is language option to change the locale for the game. I had to do this since JP version FFXIV requires JP Square-Enix account with JP credit card (they wont accept US credit cards)... it's so F'ing weird how their system works... FFXI JP client worked fine with US credit card...Semi-related question, is it possible to install the FFXIV client in 2 languages (EN and JP) on the same system? that's when you say...
ちょっと待ってください、サブリガマンに聞いてみます - choto mate kudasai, subligarman ni kiite mimasu - hold on, let me ask subligar-man
but then... I'm not always watching forums/doc/in-game so..... dunno
or you can say
日本語 勉強中です - nihongo benkyou chu desu - Learning Japanese right now
少しわかりません、ごめんなさい - sukoshi wakarimasen, gomenasai - sorry, don't understand a bit

Hi Reinhart,
Thanks for keeping this list. I'm sure many people find it handy.
I don't know if you want to include too many alternatives, or the list could be never-ending --
but a lot of players I know tend to use 湧く for monsters popping, rather than 現す。
By the way, do you think it would be good to include the Thornmarch Moogle names in your list?
クープ
カパ
コギ
パコ
キップ
プキ
ピコ
王 or ボス
... I don't remember their English names, but I see other players referring to the sword Moogle as Whiskersomething?
I guess the names are very different.

Ruffletuft Kupta Kapa - 斧

Furryfoot Kupli Kipp - 白
Woolywort Jolly Kogi - 弓
Pukla Puki Pomburner - 黒
Puksi Piko Shaggysong - 詩
Pukna Pako Tailturner - シ
Good King Moggle Mog XII - 王
At least those are the abbreviations some JP friends told me. =o Hope it helps!

Thanks!
Let me put the lists together. I've highlighted the parts of the English names that my friends use in Japanese. The names that ShadowCadja gives are references to their jobs and work just as well. ^^
Ruffletuft Kupta Kapa - カパ − 斧 ("ono" is axe)
Whiskerwall Kupdi Koop - クープ − 剣 ("ken" is sword)
Furryfoot Kupli Kipp - キップ − 白 ("shiro" is white (mage))
Woolywort Jolly Kogi - コギ − 弓 ("yumi" is bow)
Pukla Puki Pomburner - プキ − 黒 ("kuro" is black (mage))
Puksi Piko Shaggysong - ピコ − 詩 ("shi" is bard)
Pukna Pako Tailturner - パコ − シ ("shi" is short for シーフ ... "shi-fu" is the katakana spelling of thief)
Good King Moggle Mog XII - 王 ("ou" is King ... but sometimes referred to as ボス or "bosu" (boss))
Why are you using カタカナ to represent 漢字 characters?
