A Few Starter Questions

Hey guys, I've owned the game for a long time but for various reasons had not activated my free month until last night.

In your opinion is leveling more grinding based or levequest based? Because yesterday I had 8 leve allowances and I'd say that took me about 30 minutes of gameplay and then I wandered around Limsa Lominsa and only found 2 other quests that gave me like 200 exp

Second Question: I rolled a Lancer on Gysahl because I cant remember the last time I played anything that had a spear (Diablo 2??) and Chocobos mirite!? The question is, is there a large population of English speaking players on here? I'd like to be able to talk to the people I play with! (I read on the world forums that theres mostly Japanese players here)

Third Question: Is crafting important? I'd like to be able to craft things that are useful to me when I hit "max level" (I know you can level up everything to 50). Most other MMOs you cant really craft anything useful!

1. Parties for the big grinding exp, levequests to fill in during solo play when you don't have much time.
With quests, it will give a "recommended rank", which you have to be at least to get the full experience point reward, otherwise it scales down sharply if you're under that level.

2. Gysahl is known to be Japanese heavy. Come to Lindblum either way, lots of friendly English people, like muah.

3. Crafting your own stuff is pretty sweet, saves you a lot in the end, but is by no means required.
Yoshida consistently mentions only being able to "master" one craft, though the entirety of the meaning of that statement has yet to surface. Just something to keep in the back of your mind, your number one choice.

Hey there! Thanks for a very quick response, this was helpful. I cant remember what it said the population of Lindblum was when I was creating my character and I've always been a stickler for creating characters on servers that say they have a "low" population and I'm not quite sure why. I'll probably take you up on the offer though!

Welllll, Lindblum is a tad more populated than the others. ~500 on at this moment

I prety much agree with what was said here as far as the answers go. One thing I am curious about though. Why would you recomend to a new player to go to the 2nd or 3rd best server after Besaid, with its much higher english popuation?

That would be my server, and I'm already helping them through the storyline quest currently. ^^
