Now that you mentioned it... If they never fixed the giraffe's gene, what hope to hold on for the viera/hrothgar restrictions?

Reading between the lines, they're very good at providing excuses these days as to why something cannot be done. The more the game ages, though, the less patience I have for such an approach. There are many ways in which the game has changed over time with no regard as to how it affects the majority of players, yet alone the minority. It's fine - nothing remains the same way, after all. Blizzard went ahead and updated the playable character models and it worked out well enough in WoW so I fail to see why it would be a source of much controversy here.

Elves are typically the most popular playable race in an MMO when done well. That Elezen aren't popular is a clear sign of flaws with the design .They've even distanced themselves in interviews from them by attributing their design to an employee who is no longer with the company.
