Again, SE really ought to add a muscle tone slider for the existing races and also mViera, should they be added. I really don't get what the problem is or why this poses an issue. Yes, it's "unique" to Hyur and Roegadyn. Great. Find some other "unique" feature to give them that isn't as pivotal. It should never have been limited to two specific races.

A lot of their arguments for not correcting errors of the past or adding features such as this don't really make a whole lot of sense to me.

I'd also like the Highlander physique for Viera.

The game assigns our characters a list of values. The servers basically know our characters as a list of trues and falses and numbers on a scale. The more options you add to this list, the more pressure you put on the servers when you have a whole bunch of characters on the screen at once. Hyur and roe get muscle tone sliders (it doesn’t actually make muscles any bigger) because they don’t have ear or tail sliders like the other races. They could add more options to character creator, but then they would have to limit the amount of characters shown on-screen.

It’s a result of the spaghetti code left over from 1.0. They could fix it, but the time and money could also be spent elsewhere and it’s not likely that SE will ask them to do it.

I think the issue is the patch cycle and how tight it needs to be, which I have no real problem with. I'm quite okay with the character creator as it is for now, I feel it covers a wide enough variety of body types and in combination with the extensive glamour system no two characters look exactly alike.

If it's expanded on with things like sliders and subraces I of course hope that they come without burdening the patch cycle as is. The only frustrations I have with the missing genders is that the races feel slightly incomplete without them, especially with npcs such as hrothgar wives and viera husbands being mentioned.

Yes, and from SE's vantage point the game is just a stable source of income, which they only invest in as much as they absolutely have to - as much as I am aware of the stance on it, it does not ultimately make a difference to me.

I imagine the size of this thread has become a hinderence. Given how circular the discussions are I very much doubt SE will even look this far through. If they've seen this thread They probably won't have gone past the first 100 pages.

I guess we'll just have to differ on what is considered "normal". Midlanders are what I would consider slender (ranging from athletic to soft), and so are Elezen. The issue with Elezen is that they borked up their proportions and now refuse to fix them for stupid reasons that basically just amount to "we don't want to spend time on this".

I suspect this is like the Au Ra/Highlander thing, where people believe Au Ra are "slender" even though their proportions are virtually identical to Highlanders and this can be demonstrated by taking actual measurements of the body. It is the illusion that the height creates which makes Elezen and Au Ra seem more slender than Midlanders and Highlanders, respectively, plus differential focus on certain body ratios that suffices to trick the eye.



And much like Viera, that situation could have been remedied through more creative use of height sliders.

I don't think so, considering the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result. The conversation here definitely has a cycle. Doesn't seem like anyone brings anything new to the table, not that I am. I just pop in from time to time. It's amusing.

The reason they gave was that it may dissatisfy some people who already play the race.

I'm sure that that 0.1% of people who play Elezen would be devastated.

Circular discussions within the thread are inevitable given how little news or updates there's been. I said a long time ago that if there were plans or not to ever add the missing genders, it would have been less cruel to simply say so from the beginning, instead of "maybe." Soon this thread will reach 1000 pages, which we have to admit shows a lot of resilience and stubbornness against ever letting the issue go. Mostly I view it as a regression and decrease in quality of the game because what they gave us was so broken that I fantasiaed back to an older race. They need to be clear about fixing Viera/Hrothgar and adding the missing genders, but I have low expectations given the recent string of disappointing decisions that have been made.
