Housing release on Twintania/Spriggan

I'm on Spriggan so don't know how it was on Twintania today. But most of the wards are basically empty. There are a few larges gone but I'd say mabe 50 FCs grabbed a house (if at all). We got the plot we were aiming for and even now there are plenty of the same plots left. The only ones that are gone is in Shirogane 30/60.

Even as a small FC you could have prepared for housing long ago. And even if you don't get it today there really is no need to panic. I'd say that larges will be available until personal housing hits. And mediums will be around for much longer. Heck, I'm betting my arse that you can find free houses until the end of the year. So don't feel pressured. Take your time. Although housing is limited, we have over 4 000 plots. There are like not even half of that amount of active players on the server so you really don't be scared.

Could they have announced it beforehand? Sure. Would it have been neccessary - Not really... It kinda helped not to have a bunch of panic folks who run for something and grab it because it might be gone. If you are logging in right now and check the wards, you will see that 95% is still left and you can take your time to pick the one you really want instead of just panic clicking a plot because you think this might be it.

Normally in the past when they allow FCs to have houses first, it would only be open for a month until personal houses could be purchased. The wards might feel empty because it hasn't even been a full day yet. Many were still sleeping or heading to work. I'd say give it a week and then we'll see how things are.

So it would have been nice to have a little more warning that this was coming with patch 5.08 other than reading it from the patch notes. I'm sure the Shirogane release back in SB was announced sufficiently beforehand. Time for FCs to scuttle around trying to get their desired plot...

You wouldnt think it, but this is actually an improvement. When Shiro housing was released they announced 2 weeks in advance the day it would happen at that the first wave would be FC or transfer only. What happened? Tons of medium and large FCs broke up into 1-5 man FCs(many formed new linkshells so they could still keep their old chat groups alive) and used those 2 weeks building up their ranks and credits so they could get extra houses for more airships(and later submarines). The minutes immediately following the patch saw unstable servers as EVERYONE logged in(we all knew the day and time, so many took time off work to be there) and tried to get their preferred lot in one of the new wards. Did you get in right away, or did you get qued? Or god forbid, did the game crash? That was the difference between the plot you wanted and settling for any open small in Shiro. Then as all the lots filled, the remaining FCs scrambled to find the plots that had been relocated out of in the other 3 wards to get something to show for it. My medium population server saw the large and medium Shiro plots gone in less then 5 minutes, the last small scooped up at about the 9 minute mark, and the newly opened relocation plots gone by 12 mins. A lot of new FCs got houses that day, but many of them were shell FCs because they had a chance to prepare.

Edit: Personal housing, im guessing, will be 2-4 weeks from now. Time enough for the FCs to get their houses(if not their preferred lots), and for the devs to gauge how heavy demand is on these new servers.

Well Shirogane housing was very popular even before release that naturally players/FCs would be scrabbling to get their plots. Plus it was game wide so for worlds that had housing shortages, this was going to be a big chance to finally be a home owner.

The reason some notice would have been nice for Sprig/Twin is to just give players a chance no different to Shiro release. Also with it being mostly focused on the EU players, maintenance usually ends around 10am/11am/12pm (late morning anyway) so most players are either at work, school, college etc which occasionally need a little notice to get out of you known. Of course I don't know anyone who would take a day off work just to get a house in an MMO, but I'm sure some people would do that. A new start with new housing on a new world, some transferred just for that.

I'm not an EU player, but, don't some/all of the other EU servers still have a housing surplus? Plus, it's FC only to start, which historically hasn't ever really completely wiped out availability. Seems like an overreaction here.

Well then if it doesn't effect you, it's kinda none of you business how others feel about the situation. End of the day it's just a little respect, all other stuff relating to housing/apartments was announced in advance regardless of why they were added. It's not a big deal it just would have been nice, that's all.

You may find a small one here and there on some servers, yes. But for those looking for a medium or big one the new servers were the big hope. A lot of players transferred for exactly this reason.

No notice actually gives players more of a chance though. They were always going to do FC only for the first wave. Every major housing release has been FC only at first. Not giving people a target date means that less 1 player FCs are going to end up with houses, meaning more lots will be open when personal houses are turned on. I imagine the larges will be taken(if they arent already), but id be surprised if there arent still some mediums open when that day comes. Which will likely be the next downtime.

Plenty of 1 player FCs will still end up with houses just the same since it will be a couple of weeks before they allow individual players to purchase. It only takes a couple of days to rank up a FC enough to purchase, and usually not hard to find people to fill out the FC roster temporarily to get the 4 needed to purchase.

Once the 4.2 ward expansion was opened to individual buyers, there were many mediums and a few larges still left on Coeurl. The larges sold out the first day but we still had mediums for several months (mostly Goblet of course).

Unless someone is deadset on a large, their chances of getting one of their preferred plots should be high if they're ready to buy when SE removes the restriction.
