Were trusts intended to be usable for goetia/phantasmagoria farming?

I mean, if someone wants to do the 80 dungeons incredibly slowly with trusts for tomes when queuing and playing with others is generally way faster, I don't really see the problem.

Except the market for tome mats being flooded and crashing. Also in this scenario, a single bot takes up 1 instance spot. There are already problems with parties of 4 bots clogging instance servers, when they all start running solo with trusts the load will multiply by 4.

sure but this implies a botter would
complete ShB story and bother to level up trust again

They can just automate the trust NPCs to level cap over the course of a day if they feel like it.

And yes, they will manually complete the ShB story just for the sake of botting.

they probably rather make money else where during that time

It's not worth it unless you want to get the shoebill minion without any competition, IMO.

A hunt train is a lot more lucrative as you're getting both types of tomestones and materia out of it in less time and a busy server will have multiple daily. The post maintenance S rank waves are even better.

Even after instances are gone hunts will still be the most efficient method of getting tomestones in terms of how much you earn for the time spent.

Oh, believe me, I did. Several times. Both the main account (Who also bots regularly) and his alts since the HW days, but all of them are still around.

The alts have traditionally been used almost entirely for scrip farming and mostly seem to exist to just give the main account (And likely associates) an endless supply of DoL/H materia. The fact that they're also being used to horde large houses makes me feel like something scummier might be going on, though...

Imo the two more lilely reasons for that are:

- the novelty of the savage raids is gone, players doing them are now in 370 stuff instead of getting crafted one, and people not doing them are getting 360/normal Eden stuff instead because they dont care about being pentamelded ;

- you get way more tomes with A ranks ShB trains. When it takes one hundred players one hour top to kill 36 hunt targets, 2 or 3 times in a row thanks to the world visit, it makes the idea of getting tomes by boting with the trust system laughable.

Anyway the best time to make gils by reselling tomes mats have always been when they are new. The market is always crashing a bit later.

I'm looking at the MB right now and the price is exactly what I'd expect based off of past rounds of tomestone materials. If you don't like the price, petition SE to incorporate them into more useful recipes so that there's actually some reason for people to buy the items they make aside from Savage raiders rounding out their gear very early on.
