Hah, and now I assume you're implying that a bikini has the hidden effect of +1,000 fire resistance? Simple question: throughout all of history, in what wars were swimwear even on the list of appropriate equipment?Hellfire ignores gear defense.
Sure, I guess we can argue about the devs decision of removing magic defense from gear, which does have the side effect of making gear mostly useless against magic unless it has PIE+ or Mag Evasion.
Under these rules, it is true that defense matters very little against Ifrit since he hardly uses melee attacks past the first phase and 90% of damage mitigation comes from evading his moves, not soaking it up with defense.
But, IMO, making fights based on avoiding damage instead of reducing it with gear is just as valid as making fights where you can't really avoid most moves and require defense gear to survive.
I'm not implying anything at all.
What I've said is that they removed magic defense from ALL GEAR in this game, therefore it really doesn't matter if you're using bikinis or haubergeons against Ifrit's magic moves, which obviously includes Hellfire.
I've also said that we can, of course, debate how good or bad that idea is.
Nah, that's ok. I'm done arguing.I'm not implying anything at all.
