Materia Melding and 1.20a style repairs

The new 1.20a repair feature works great.

Can we see something in the future that treats materia melding in the same fashion? Maybe not for attachments of 2 or more materia, but at least for the initial 1st piece attachment? Have the requester supply and put up the materia, catalyst and a set flat fee for the service.

While it isn't generally that difficult to find a friend or linkshell mate that can perform a meld, Sometimes it can be difficult to track someone with the skill down. I think a system like this would make materia-melded items even more accessible to the community as a whole and make 1 less thing people need to spend their time shouting for help with if they can't find craftsmen on their own.

I believe it's in the works, but I am unable to find a dev quote confirming that.

As a person currently without a linkshell, I am one of the ones that will not be using materia until I can either do it myself, or I can request it like a repair. I do not trust people enough to hand off my gear and materia, especially if it comes to double or higher melding.

I not only think it would be extremely convenient and make slotting materia into gear far more accessible to people (especially lower level materia that people may find isn't worth the hassle finding crafters via shout for)

True story. If people can't do their own low-level melds, or find a friend or linkshell mate that wouldn't mind helping them out, I seriously doubt they'd spend time or energy shouting for a level 1 or 2 meld- essentially making the materia system as it is a almost exclusive endgame or high-level game mechanic. Hopefully the devs have an iron in the fire when it comes to this.

Yeah I remember this being in the works. It might open up untradeable gear getting materia compatibility.

I too am hoping this gets added soon! I only wanted to mainly level Alchemy and Cooking which obviously you can't meld with and I don't want to have to level a craft that I don't really care about at the moment and I don't want to give armor to people I don't really know...

I see quite a few people shouting for melds in Ul'Dah on Figaro. Usually one of my LS mates helps but trust is a factor and rightfully so.
