Gear is overrated, the bikini/reindeer Ifrit Fight

Well, now! Congrats for this party, I'd say! A third of the tank's health (god I love lallafel tanks) per swipe looks pretty much alright for a 'naked' run! You guys had pretty good timing there to keep him up and you totally Danmaku-dodged this guy.

I'd say ignore the idiots trying to get on the way of your fun here, you guys did great!

Just goes to show you this game can't be taken seriously. What other sub-based MMOs let's you do this?

Besides this shows that the actual fun gimmick of Ifrit's fight is not a contest of your gear and button-press reflexes versus his damage numbers but your memorization and relocation reflexes versus his attack pattern. In other words, Ifrit plays like a danmaku game, which is not at all bad

You stated pre much what everyone else has said that is needed to beat Ifrit.. beating him naked is no big feat.. tons of people have done it.. and many don't care that they are able to cause well they know how easy it is.... close thread please.. just another ls looking for hype.. not the first and won't be the last.. and no one has answered my question.. has moogle been done naked?? Id more interested in seeing that done naked then Ifrit who has been done a million times before.. I dont mean to come off rude.. but to create a whole new thread about how is gear is overrated on one of the easier fights in FF14 is just lawl worthy...

It have a lot to do with Skills they don't get hit by anything and one person only die by Hellfire let me say that pretty awesome If you don't get hit by anything and everyone does there job you can do it with gear or without. It's like FFXI where you had 36 people and fail doing dynamis jeuno but then if you do it with 15 good players you win and did a great job so yes i think it all about skills and how good you are at doing your job.

It may not have gloating in the title but they could have clearly just responded onto one of the million threads about how gear is useless.. but they took the time to make a NEW thread and to post their vids because they were bored.. well I am bored and feel like commenting on yet another pointless thread.. I am not impressed, cause 1.20 didn't make anything any harder.. so whats the difference.. and again IFRIT IS EASY WHEN YOU KNOW WHAT TO EXPECT AND WHEN TO TIME ABILITIES.. I think it is pretty funny when everytime someone makes this thread it is an excuse for people to take an example of a mob that does pure elemental damage (weird that the fire based primal would do that?), which most people normally tank without fire resistance, and assume that because you can tank it without defensive armor that "stats clearly don't do anything at all".

On topic though congrats, naked runs are fun. They are actually slightly more challenging because players have less HP/MP/VIT, and damage modifiers. Plus I think they give a hidden modifier to drop rate, I have terrible luck with the horrible "personal loot system" but I finally got my Ifrit's Bow on ours.

Unfortunately, a few of our players suffer from never-nude syndrome, or I'd do all our Ifrit runs naked just to further shame him for all the times I've so clearly been out of that eruption when it hit me.

Don't forget that the Final Fantasy franchise usually has the legendary Ribbon armour. A small simple item which offers enormous defence. Its a shame I haven't seen it in FFXIV yet.
