    Dated gear?

I'm sure the answer was released in a letter from the developer, but I don't exactly care for reading through all of them trying to find it. So I ask:

Why are so many recipes named dated? I'm assuming they've been deprecated for whatever reason. But the thing is, almost all current armor, is wearable by only a few archetypes: GLA MRD LNC, DoW, DoW&M, The classes commonly seen in 'middle weight' gear, and all classes.

I'd kinda like to not have some of my armor come off when I go to craft something, but also would prefer to not be wearing crafters gear all the time.

It also seems like a lot of neat looking gear was taken out (labeled dated). As of right now, there really isn't much customization.

Dated gear is gear that was made from old recipes before the recipe revamp from 1.19 (pre sure).. and those recipes will be phased out.. so eventually you will not see "Dated" equip.

You will need to re-equip your self, Google Mooglebox and check out what gear you could upgrade to and go from there, you can always shout in town requesting a crafter to do a few synths for you, most will not oblige as every synth counts towards something..

Yes pretty much, you will want gear that does not have "Dated" some of the "Dated" stuff is still useful but the fact that you cant place materia in it, doesnt make it a viable option for long.

I would say leather armor a leather-worker could wear is considered useful...

    Maybe I missed something though.

Well just cause you can wear it, it doesn't make it useful, so obviously you missed something.. I am saying "Dated" gear at end-game/capped is pointless cause you CANNOT Materia it.. if you cannot find means of obtaining new gear then by all means wear your dated stuff, but don't be thinking you will be accepted to into harder fights w/ "Dated" gear and gear w/o some Materia Attached to it....

Obviously a misunderstanding somewhere; I was not accosting you in any way. I understand the point of materia. Right now, I am doing a lot of leveling, and would like to make my own gear as I level up. Leather would work best, but it's a bit of a nuisance to have leather armor come off every time I go to make more leather gear, or cook.

Yes I can understand the frustration of having to re-equip the gear everytime for each job.. you can create gear macros.. simply google it and I believe somewhere on the lodestone homepage they do have a tutorial for macros.. ex.. \

/equip mh "Dated Round Knife" mh = mainhand oh= offhand, its kind of like 11's macro gear system, if you did play 11 that is.. if not.. google "Help with FF14 gear macros" and you will get lots of help .. Take 5 mins for each job you want to create macros for and enjoy the time you save in the future

But you just stated that its a nuisance to re-equip every time you switch.. it has always been this way.. just now you cant be cushioned with wearing Optimal gear for every goddam level... I don't understand the point of this thread anymore.. every question you had, I answered.. but you know everything, but don't take the said time to use your knowledge.. I give up... /facepalm
