The ping from the East Coast to the NA servers in San Franscisco is the same as from the East Coast to the EU depending on where in the East Coast you live. So, I live in North America on the east coast, and I'm on Aether (Faerie to be exact). I have a lot of friends I've made in Europe, so I decided to make an alt to play on Light/Zodiark. At first, I was apprehensive because I thought that the performance of the game would suffer with me being in NA and on a EU data center, but I am shocked to find it actually plays just as smooth.
Is this normal? I would have thought being in NA I would suffer from dips and lag in performance, but I've experienced absolutely none. It's nice because it has opened my game experience to a whole new group of people.
I can only assume, since I am on the East coast, the distance between the NA and EU data centers from me are roughly the same, since I believe the DC in NA is in California.
Yeah this is what I assumed. So far nothing too wonky. I am not a hardcore raider or into Savage content, so as long as I don't have noticeable lag and can play decent I am happy.
