Been replaying ARR on an alt lately and ran Qarn and Stone Vigil last night and got some really awful tanks.

In Qarn, she just kept rushing forward. Which wasn't really an issue, since she only pulled one pack at a time. Then, towards the end of the dungeon, she out of nowhere decides to pull that entire hallway of enemies. No warning. And no rampart, either. We wipe. Queue her sprinting back to the hallway and pulling before I can pull my fairy out and before the only DPS that had an AoE has arrived. I manage to keep her up by expending basically all of my MP.

And then I rolled into SV to be greeted by a tank who has 40 for half of the left side, expect for 20 belt, 32 gloves. Part of his right side is for casters. No cooldowns once again and I'm wasting all my MP trying to keep him alive. He's trying to sneak past some packs of enemies and kiting absolutely everything, making it impossible for DPS to hit positionals. Someone manage to drag him to the final boss when he turns the boss towards us and nearly wipes us.

Had to go to bed after that. Eek.

I am starting to post here too much lol but oh. my god. I guess I had too many good, uneventful runs with nice players because the game saw fit to bless me with.... my first encounter with a complete jerk in DF! It's not nearly as bad as a lot of the jerks I see here but I was surprised, honestly.



He sat there and let his faerie heal me while I pulled one pack at a time since I didn't trust the heals anymore and then that happened. I was probably a bit too antagonistic with my first comment but I was pretty annoyed after the wipe + non-tanks trying to dictate the pace of the dungeon (especially after a wipe) is just.... ugh. He could've just asked if I could do bigger pulls again like a normal human being, I likely would have, but nope. bleh. This is why I don't tank.

On a more positive note, the AST we got after was amazing. They made Noct sect look OP. Managed to do big pulls again with them as heals. (if you're reading this AST, sorry for zoning out and standing in the aethersup like a noob and losing half my HP)

The game can only be played in those four languages, though. A person who only understands, say, Spanish, would have no way of making heads or tails of any text in the game, whether it be other players or NPC's or menus. It would not be playable, so yes it is a reasonable expectation to assume a person with English checked off can understand at least rudimentary English. I don't think calling them a moron is the best way to react, but the point is valid.

are you saying that because they can't check any language that they are not allowed to play the game, last time I touched those was 5 years ago but I think english is checked by default and you have to have at least one of those 4 checked, also it would be playable, you only would have to read walkthroughs on their language or just start like I did, just check every word from a dictionary if you get stuck.

Correct. Don't attack the adds.

Uhh... actually the mechanic IS ignoring everything besides the boss. You just stack up, dps the boss and that's literally it. The boss kills the adds for you. You do nothing except dpsing the boss. You don't ignore the mechanic by ignoring everything except the boss. That IS the mechanic.

Uhh....actually the mechanic is to kite the adds around the room, as collectively they hit hard, and will kill you in mere seconds. If you kite them, only a few will succeed in hitting you, making things alot easier for the healer. When the arrow disappears, then you'll stop to let the adds catch up, and get killed off by boss AoE. THAT is the mechanic.

Got Sastasha HM for my 50/60/70 Roulette on my alt today. I already hate this dungeon simply because the first boss and the last one are annoying as sin, so I wasn’t happy to get it. Tank bailed two pulls in without a word, but we got a replacement very fast. The healer was maybe new? There was a bonus, but it may have also been the DRG. Anyways, I tell them to Esuna the DoT the first boss gives you.

As per usual, what happens? There is no Esuna to be seen. I died twice to Tail Screw + the DoT. When I told the healer they need to stay on top of Esunaing people, they were like “UH I HAVE NO MP”. Well, their solution to every time the tank took damage was to do Medica II > Medica, so it’s little wonder why they had no mana. I tell them to not use Medica/Medica II so much, and they called me a liar saying they weren’t using it. I was like “uh, I was watching you cast them repeatedly...” We end up wiping to the boss because they’re too busy not Esuna-ing themselves (they had 3 of the DoTs btw), that they died to straight ticks. I’d picked up with it already at 10% because I didn’t want Brink, but they blamed the wipe on me picking up. Sure, honey. Whatever you say.

The second time, I think they were deliberately not Esuna-ing me because I died again to Tail Screw + DoT. I was the only one who died—they Esuna’d everyone else. Took them until the boss was at 15% the second time to raise me... I died at around 60%.

Never in all the time that dungeon has existed have I kited those adds. They've never dealt significant damage to me when they've fixated me. I've always just held them by the boss with the rest of the party.

To go with this ive healed through that dungeon so many times I've NEVER seen anyone kite it's always has been stack on the boss do NOT use aoe attacks and ignore the adds. Healer can heal through it.

Btw some of the adds bind their target making kiting redundant

Was this your alt on Twintania and you were maybe playing with a non-english person? Because in the german version of the game the skill-names are a bit confusing as the english Esuna is actually called "Medica".

That moron had an audacity to type something in NOT ENGLISH language in chat (I still don't know how those people are able to join my PF when my settings are ENG only)

That doesn't matter. For starters, most people select every language anyway because you query faster this way. And second, even if you select "ENG only" you can still get people who haven't set ENG as their language if there are no other ENG-people available in your PF-pool.
