Probably. Kinda don't wanna ditch my character tbh. Would be great if the Next FF MMO we could import/transfer characters.

Good chance I would. Still be plenty for me to do in terms of achievements and what not and if anything at least I still got RP with my friends to keep me busy. It's one of those things that keep me going even during droughts anyway.

Considering EverQuest has been around for 20 years ....
Who knows for me. I've jumped to a new MMO alot in my past, though now I've slowed down a bit. FF14 is my only sub MMO at the moment, so going to another I pay for isn't big on my lisr rn.
No idea, depends entirely on the development direction.
Currently I'm satisfied with FF14 but games can go any way. I was satisfied with WoW too, then that went downhill more and more with every change they made and I enjoyed it less and less until I finally moved on and never looked back. If Enix ever did the same, I'd move to a new game. If they continue to deliver content I have fun with and continue making changes that pleasantly surprise me then I'd happily remain indefinitely.

Not sure, it depends both of IRL factors and what we can find as an alternative. Currently, all MMO look stuck in the same layout. Rather than a new game, they all seem to plan to release mobile versions of the existing one. I expect to totally give up playing MMO rather than starting a new one (and I don't expect any really interesting new one before...2023/2025).
So would I continue playing FFXIV in maintenance mode? Probably not since we already come back pretty quickly to the routine.

It is more like the life itself.
You want to move on eventually. And to be honest, I am very, very bad at this. You know... I am very bad at handling melancholy and "everything is coming to an end eventually" sort of thing.
My mother and I was sitting there once with only a candle on the couch table, no other light, no TV, and discussed about the general topic of "decay".
This chat with my mother deep into the night brought some nice knowledge that I can project onto video games.
At a certain point, which is usually far from "now", you are just tired. Just like of life. When you can't tie your shoelaces or it is too difficult for you to get up off a chair, then you lose more and more the will to live. Or you accept if it's ending.
If the engine is so bad and new graphics are so flashy that you can't look at the character models anymore, or if the story is done and the replayability is too low, you will move on.
Right now in 2019, this sounds terribly melancholic. And I am talking about a timespan of 5+ years. But time will show you too eventually...
If Square is making another Fantasy-themed FF (not this garbage XIII and XV are!), I might stay with them for a while. Maybe the next incarnation of Red Mage is awesome - or they scrap it completely. Who knows? But with the demand this game and its concept cause, I don't think they would want to throw that aboard..
Sincerely,

Doubful, the next MMO is already in development.
Probably not, I play for the story so once that stops, there's nothing really here for me. I might pay for a month here or there when nostalgia struck, just to run around some old dungeons or something, or use newgame+ to replay the story.

I still play city of heroes so why wouldn't I want to play FFXIV when its in its twilight? Just because a game stops getting updates doesn't mean it won't still be fun to play.
How many men am I involved with? Well that depends... do you mean men as in males? Or just midlanders?
