This isn't 100% related to the topic but, question for all here on the DF thread: Is AST garbage or am I garbage? I'm currently a level 68 AST, so am I just missing good abilities? Had a run of Doma Castle where the GNB tank in a mix of Shire and at-level gear pulled huge, I heal him through it the first time but he ended up dying on the second pull (and didn't accept rez...) and we wiped. He immediately ragequit of course, but I'm wondering if that was my fault? I used all of my kit, except lightspeed and Synastry because I forgot them in my panic, but it wasn't enough.
I felt like I maybe could have healed him through it but there's just not much more I can do at level 68 besides Benefic II spam after I exhaust CDs. Does AST feel less bad later?

If you used everything you had and assuming you were in good gear or at least around the level I would say it may lie with him. Did you notice if he used any defensive cool-downs at all, actively dodge AoEs? Honestly though, he could have simply said "Oops, pulling less" and left it at that. Granted as for the healing power of AST, I know it got buffed but I haven't touched it myself since the first few days of 5.0

Just had a fun time in E4. Most of the party was dead, and we had a LB3 ready to go. Healer used it, and just as everyone was getting up, boss used his big knockback jump, knocking the entire party off of the edge at once and causing a wipe.

I haven't played AST since mid-SB, so I cannot speak from experience regarding the class.
But if you used everything you had and still couldn't keep up with healing, the problem likely lied elsewhere. Even if he used his CDs, if they're poorly timed it can still mean a lot of unneccessary damage. I stopped counting how many times I've seen PLD pop Hallowed Ground while the Holy stuns still came in one after another. That's a completely wasted CD on the tanks part. Or Superbolide right after Bene hit.
Depending on how much Shire (not augmented?) gear he was wearing, gear could have also made things a bit harder. From what my FC mate told me, AST is fine in dungeons and can handle larger pulls just fine. So it mostly comes down to the tank (does he dodge properly?) and both of your CD timings. Eating one aoe in a big pull can change things from "I got this" to "oh sh*t" because you need to pop more things than expected and don't have them for later into the pull.

Just had an awfull and terrible party in Mt. Gulg DF. Join in, all greet each other and we start. I've pulled a fair pack and, being PLD, were able to tank it OK with my invulnerability. Stopped to chat a little with a group and the thing I see second later after pressing "enter" - one of the DPS yolo-runs to the 1st boss and pull him while I was behind. He died before I was able to run in and pull the boss with ability. That moron had an audacity to type something in NOT ENGLISH language in chat (I still don't know how those people are able to join my PF when my settings are ENG only) and I typed a fair response - "Are you tank? No? Don't pull then". I hate the people like that... After that healer somehow managed to not being able to heal me at least to 50% HP on tank busters (and I used on them AND Sheltron, AND damage reduction CD). And the SECOND DPS somehow managed to die 3 times on simple AoE mechanick of that boss. After we killed the boss I left. Because I had a fair sense that I would spend my time and nerves in vain with such clowns...

AST has issues right now but the amount they heal isn't really one of them.

I am also currently at level 68 AST and I feel they heal enough, they just take a bit of knowledge to be efficiently using Cards and oGCD abilities without delaying their GCD casts which, if you need to heal, can make you feel like you aren't healing enough if you take to long with cards and stuff.

This is not to mention the Tank's playing skill and what of his equipment was Shire.

I tried to run Monastery last night and golly the entire raid was awful, everyone just kept dying and at one point I was in the top 5 DPS in the entire raid as WHM! funnily enough we wiped twice on thunder god and I decided to leave at that point...

No, I main AST and WHM. I levelled AST first through SHB with my WAR friend and we pulled wall to wall w/o a problem. The only time tanks die in large pulls on my ast is when they're not mitigating correctly and/ or undergeared. AST gets a second charge of essential dignity later on, as well as celestial intersection (single target heal+ shield) which makes it even stronger for pulls. I mean without knowing the full context /maybe/ not popping lightspeed could've saved it but I can say with confidence that ast is not lacking in dungeons. I noticed that the GBKs feel very squishy healing compared to the other tanks and part of me is wondering if most of them are inexperienced because it's their first time tanking or something.

My current favorite recently is gun-ho new tanks/dps that are waaaay overthinking Tam-Tara hard first boss. So many rage quits after one wipe and pull before I can ask if everyone knows the mechanics. Lolol. Somedays I nerdrage. Somedays all I can do is laugh.

Let the mechanics do the work for you on that first boss. I can heal through alot of dumb, but a debuff 6 deep aint going to save you with medica 2 and cure 2. >.>

I just had an Eden Savage 1 learning-from-start party with an off tank who didn't do anything at all apart from a Provoke, not even auto-attack. When asked why, they answered they are spending their time 'analysing the fight'. So I finally found something worse than the zero DPS healers who are spending their time 'watching the party HP bars and being aware of their surroundings'.
