You dealt with a garbage person, not a parser attacking you.

Parser's equip and empower garbage people. I used parsers myself in WoW; I wish MMO communities weren't terrible and I could use parsers for this game on the PS4. This community is terrible, though. Let me be clear, I'm not actually condemning parsers; it's the community that sucks.

Exactly, people who use parsers to just 'call people out' in normal content, suck, and if you think about the number of people who do use them - how many of them are toxic? Considering there are a golden rule regards to them, don't ask, don't tell. Those who call you out and bring to light they're using a parser are in the minority. People can get banned for using them, or rather using them incorrectly. How to solve the situation? If they bring up the parse, mention your numbers - etc, report them. If anything it teaches them not to do it again.

As for how communities go, haha nah. ESO the damage meters aren't even against ToS, and SWTOR community is just toxic by default. FF14 is like running through a flower garden.

The only other MMO I spent a lot of time in is WoW, and at least in low level dungeons I don't remember there being NEARLY as many insecure tryhards looking to one up new players.

Once you get into high end content and mistakes can cause wipes then every MMO community is far more on edge, and at least there it can be semi-justified.

No. Parsers are mainly used in raid-settings and static-groups, so people who care about their performance and about not letting their group down have a tool to tell what they need to improve and have some data on which they can base their analysis on how to improve that on.

Personally I experienced the overall community of this game as pretty welcoming, supporting and friendly - given that you do your part, including making sure you have appropriate gear, a general knowledge of your job (that is appropriate of your current level) and of the general mechanics the game throws at you. It also includes communication with your party - saying "sorry", "hello", "I'm new" and "I'm open to any advice!" can go a long way. At least thats my experience.

This has been my experience too. I was running through an instance for the first time as a White Mage the other day, and we wiped on a boss. The tank suggested that I would have a better time healing if I cleared the poison debuffs. This was the first time in this game that I had even seen debuffs in a dungeon, and I wasn't familiar with the poison icons. After he pointed this out, I made sure to look for the debuffs and clear them. We took out the boss on the next clear. The tank thanked me for adapting quickly and even gave me a commendation. No one rage quit or crapped all over me for having failed on the first attempt. That, in my opinion, is how an MMO experience should be.

I can tell when DPS don't AoE without a meter.

Everything takes forever to die then. Then i need to heal more. If i run out of my cooldowns i usually comfortably use for big pulls, then something isn't right.

I also can tell when DPS don't do much DPS on bosses.
    How so?
well, many factors sometimes, but biggest of all:
You see more mechanics. Sometimes you see mechanics you never saw before because the boss took forever to die.

I mean, it depends on how you tell people, yes, but you can notice that by itself.

Might add that mega dps is not expected, but after the fourth mechanic rotation, you do start to wonder what's going wrong here.

You mean like this one? Which is SE's way of telling the group to "git gud".

I read the comments and sadly, this is exactly what this transformation says about the group. I ran that the dgn the very first time and didn't even know there was that transformation. I would not see this transformation until say...second and half week into Shb after official launch? At first, I thought it was funny but I came to realize this was SE's way of basically saying "ya'll sucked at that one."

Now obviously, that's hella generalized because it could've come down to just one person, hell I could've been responsible for that too (especially with the re-learning the jobs) but at the end of the day, you could take that transformation's lesson to heart: doesn't matter if it's one person or everyone who underperforms, someway, somehow to various degrees, everyone as a collective in the party suffers for it and the penalties that come with it also comes in various forms. From as small as just an extra minute spent (which is obviously no big deal in most circumstances) to failing a dps check or just failing the fight in general.

If you're capable of healing DRK back in ShB (or any tanks), then you'll heal EW DRK just fine.
