Moving forward, I think the information we got wasn't bad. Things to look forward to and things to be hopeful for were in there. Hopefully Yoshi gets some sleep.

so, Im not compassionate huh, honestly Im not gonn even waste my time making an elaborate response to this, because it isnt worth it. So, by the way, I wonder if for male viera theyll also do race hairstyles or theyll actually go ahead and allow them to use previous ones

I find it unusual that it seems like adding new hairstyles from scratch is easier than adapting the older ones. I have no idea what male Viera hairstyles would look like in the end but I'd like the choice between wilder/more civilized hairs, like female Viera do.

Personally I don't think there's much to rectify. They've been transparent about the races in all matters lately. They've shared their plans to add new race specific hairstyles and (for Hrothgar) new faces. With this information in hand, it's all about being patient, in my opinion.

I'm referring to their workload vs how much they have to execute it with, not just the current state of the new races.

I meant that would happen, if, FFXIV ever becomes mainstream, on where the articles would be written by ppl who talk about social issues everywhere and would 100% qualify this as sexist (again, this isnt sexist imo), a.k.a, most ppl on the streets, if u show them the new genders added on 5.0 would say this is sexist, specially if female viera is wearing their racial gear, since its basically old gender roles (again, I do not think this is sexist, Im just sayign what some ppl would say) and mainstream media absolutely hates them. If XIV ever becomes mainstream though, not only will the genderlocks be removed but expect races like moogles added on a yearly basis due to the extreme budget theyd get (which is, again, practically impossible for XIV to become mainstream unless they reboot it which will obviously not happen)

Most people, and especially people on the streets, don't pay much attention to identity politics outside of the media and various organisations trying to shove it down their throats. Gamers, in particular, have a frosty relationship with what is termed "gaming journalism" for that very reason. The broader MSM exists in a perpetual state of ignorance with regards to games, anyway, only invoking them when they need a useful bogeyman, like Fortnight.

So I don't think they'll cave in just due to a bit of bad press originating from the typically discombobulated articles that journos obsessed with "identity politics" put out.

Japanese companies don't care about the complaints from western journalists. They don't care about sexism they don't care about gender politics, they simply give no hoots about what people want in that regard. And while it may be nice to get Male Viera and Female Horthgar, it aint happening anytime soon if ever. Probably never from how over worked they all are getting the new content ready with future patches while also tying in the next expansion.

They are making plenty of money to not care, so they don't. They are doing what they want, and that's all they have to do.

Also, I have never said that others should not get what they want. Never have I said such. I have said that the current new races should get more polish before they move on to the next. Your selfish attitude knows no bounds. You would rather the unfinished product be abandoned in favor of what you want so that you can just have what that toy you're striving for rather than all the children end up with full, finished, and polished toys.

I agree, while magic mike buns and death by snu snu lion qweens would be nice. The viera and Hrothgar as they are now seem half finished. I hope they get more hairstyles I am a lil miffed my pirate bun lass won't get those cool dreads

Yup, right now the Hrothgar's hairstyles are stuck to the faces and Viera have limited hair options, not to mention that not all headgear works on them. Yet they want to rush m!Viera to have a new toy to play with while the current races need way more polish like Arngrim said.
You played the game this long without M!Viera you'll be fine.

IKR, this makes me wonder if it's due to differences in definition between the old hairstyles and the new race-specific ones. Like the old hairstyles are so low res in comparison that it would look out of place on the Viera's and Hrothgar's new models. Or maybe I'm totally wrong and it's something else?
