I feel like you just described pretty much every dungeon in pretty much every MMO out there.
FFXIV? Check.
WoW? Check.
TERA? Check.
ESO? Check.
SWTOR? Check.
Neverwinter? Check.
Both above posters make excellent points, FFXIV revels in stagnation despite the growing revenue that just gets funneled to other projects. Which is fine, a company can choose how to spend it's income.... But.... Like....
Maybe make a new raid mechanic?
Pretty sure I haven't seen a new raid mechanic/boss attack all expansion. Maybe..... No, pretty sure it's all been done.
And like, toss us some haircuts. Mounts. Annnnnything. Anything to work for, that I actually want.
At this point the only things I want in this game are in the cash shop :/
If so, I don't see that as a bad thing. You can work with a stable content cycle to plan your own schedule based around your priorities in and out of the game.
I'd love a bunch more mounts to collect. What about some kind of gathering/crafting mounts that are tied to achievements? There's plenty of room for creativity here and it would add to things for us to collect. Both above posters make excellent points, FFXIV revels in stagnation despite the growing revenue that just gets funneled to other projects. The new fate system was a good step in the right direction but at the end of the day once you have unlocked all of the shared fate content there are more efficient ways to do things and eventually the shop rewards will go out of date unless more are added once in awhile.
SE has mentioned they don't want people to spend alot of time playing the game so they make a lot of it casual friendly but if you look at streamers on Twitch for example, outside of the MSQ, daily roulette's and EX primals / savage raids there's nothing for them to show hence they go and play other games. In the end there will be players who have time to grind on content for better gear but it has to be a meaningful grind and not a draining one like Eureka Pyros's RNG stats for the relic weapon.
Looking forward to anything SE can add to address the empty space here. I've been a fan of the weapon relic system for awhile now and hope they never tie it to content such as Eureka ever again since that was a mistake. Would also interesting if they could extend the relic system and make relic accessories etc.
I don't know if it was your intention, but you just described something that's seemingly working as intended. If SE doesn't want people to spend a lot of time in the game, they may do other thing (including playing other game). The point apparently isn't about what people do in their free time, just that FFXIV isn't expected to monopolize however much free time people have.SE has mentioned they don't want people to spend alot of time playing the game so they make a lot of it casual friendly but if you look at streamers on Twitch for example, outside of the MSQ, daily roulette's and EX primals / savage raids there's nothing for them to show hence they go and play other games.
As to whether they've gone too far in that direction is probably a valid argument to make if people are left unsatisfied with however much they do end up spending on FFXIV. But yeah, as far as streamers playing other games, that's not something SE probably should be overly concerned about if they do intend FFXIV to not take all of people's free time.
Plus, I don't know that I'd use twitch as a good point on how popular the game is. It's never had a large twitch following. I dont watch people play this game. I'd rather spend the time playing it.I don't know if it was your intention, but you just described something that's seemingly working as intended. Did we have the "time pause" mechanics before? Both above posters make excellent points, FFXIV revels in stagnation despite the growing revenue that just gets funneled to other projects. Which is fine, a company can choose how to spend it's income.... But.... Like....

WHERE IS THIS KETTLE EVERYONE KEEPS INTRODUCING ME TO?
And there is another topic down below about MMORPGs in general. As i said there: MMORPGs are a dying genre, and that XIV is doing well is nice and all, but is like having the best room in a sinking ship. Great, but still sinking.
Also, Guild Wars 2. Uncheck.
And Neverwinter is debatable.
"The will of my friends has etched into my heart, and now ill transform this infinite darkness into eternal light
Unmatched in heaven and earth, one body and one soul that challenge the gods!"
Yeah, but GW2 is terrible because dungeon encounters are just a spam fest since theres no tanks or healers. And there is another topic down below about MMORPGs in general. It was interesting the first time. Became a lot less interesting the many times after. Especially after 3 more chars.
