Yep double click the share button when your runs about to start and click it once when you wipe/end.
Not sure if there's a setting that changes the way the record feature works, but my PS4 constantly records, overwriting the oldest for a total of 15 minutes. So rather than pop it before a run, I just need to remember to pop it after the run.
