Because hairstyles are more important. Nobody really uses helmets.
Fairly certain SE knows this which is why we hardly get them now.

People paid IRL money to use some of the hairstyles we have like lightning.
Or paid millions of Gil to buy one from hoh or heck, even limited time hairstyles like noctis and the chocobo ponytail.

Actually....there are a few helmets I want...well they're not really helmets rather hats. But even then, I rather them focus on giving us hairstyles first.

with those big ears, it rather limits the amount of helms which would be feasible, you can't exactly fit them under most of those helms, I could you could put holes in some of them, but that woudln't work for everything.

what's the point in even playing viera if you can't see their ears, that's pretty much their defining trait.

I don't know where the problem is. Just let them clip through like there are holes in them. And for the hairstyles, it's no problem for cat-ears so why for bunnys? Again, they actually just need to let them "clip" through the hairstyle. This shouldn't even be an issue.

Anyway i read somewhere that the Hrothgar/Viera faces are based on helmet skeletons[?] or something along these lines.
