Any opinion on the solution provided?
Extreme solution: Remove grandfathered houses from people and make sure players cannot bypass the 1 personal house/fc house per account limit. Raise prices to maybe 10/30/60 mil S/M/L. But I honestly don't see them taking people's houses away that they got fairly. Plus, as said, we would still have alot of people complaining about lack of housing, but atleast then they wouldn't blame anyone but SE.

More comfortable solution that I would be more than happy with: Introduce instanced housing for private housing with working gardens. Then people can choose. Instanced housing should also not have the auto demolition = I can see a lot of people switching to instanced housing, leaving more ward houses for people that want to deal with the near constant subbing to keep their house. Instanced housing should also come at a slighty higher cost than ward houses, I'd gladly pay a little extra for not having to deal with auto demolition.

Edit: I missread, I thought you were asking for possible solutions, not opinion on yours: But for that, I agree with a higher price altho my higher price idea is lower than yours, that's about it. Seeing I can passively stay at a comfrtable level of gil whilst also buying things I like without dropping under the amount I had before, making gil isn't that hard. If i actively worked for it i would probably have much much more than I do now. But even with that, there is still the issue of too little houses for the amount of players wich is where instanced housing comes in. Or at the VERY least being able to upgrade ones apartment size.

More expensive instanced housing would be rad - make it a gil sink!
Whenever I think of upgradable instanced plots, I'm always reminded of Animal Crossing where Tom Nook would constantly persuade the player just one more room . . .

something i feel that can't be reasonably measured by the data presented by the OP is, of the total number of players/active players in ffxiv, how many actively want to own a house in game. because not every player wants to own a house in game. other than that i'd like to see instanced housing for personal housing, but with the option of sinking material resources in addition to gil to help expand and customize your house (picture: firmament/fc crafting but it's just you donating materials to build and upgrade your house)

I wouldn't consider anything else as a solution to be honest. As much as Yoshi Pizza seemed humble during the press conference when ARR was launched, the man tends to double down on everything he does. They've already state that they cannot keep adding more until the "demand" is met and considering how there's hundreds if not thousands of plots available on the Japanese data center, I don't see him changing that anytime soon. Then there's instance housing which should have came out during patch 2.38, but obviously that didn't happen. The odds of having them release something alike while keeping the wards up with the ridiculously high amount of plots on every server at this point would be embarrassing.

Same concept when it comes to upgrading apartments. Other than the garden, an apartment is the biggest half of a small house.... for 15% of the cost on top of being permanent. That's an insanely good deal. I'm not against the concept, but they would have to bonify houses.
