I asked a question about this in the thread for the upcoming Letter from the Producer, and tried to make the distinction that past interviewers neglected to do. If you go to the post directly you can leave a like and hopefully it might get an answer.
We have people tanking in bikinis, dancing around in frog suits, and taking down primals wearing nothing but a Namazu mask (just to name a few). Just as you have kindly lifted restrictions on exterior fixtures based on housing wards, could you please lift the restrictions on glamouring gear based on role (except when it comes to weapons and artifact gear)?
Very much this. As someone who mainly plays healer, I envy looking at melee gears. Their tops and legs have designs that I really like to have on my character. But alas, I am stuck with these robes. Of course, I have and been using the Boulevardier, Hannish Wool, and Butler sets but it gets... old, you know?
Back to topic, while I'd love to see the class restriction removed for glamour purpose I am also on the fence about it. The restrictions has also in a way motivates me to try leveling other jobs solely for glamour collecting. Currently I have NIN halfway leveled. Also debating to level Tanks or BRD just to wear those sweet Lakeland sets.
I believe SE intended it this way for players to try different classes. Imagine if these restrictions are lifted, why bother with other jobs I won't play if I can just run the dungeons and greed loot on the pieces I want. However currently, glamour collector also have to play classes they may not enjoy just to get a piece they want. So yeah I really can't choose a side here.
Job-restricted pieces however (RDM only, WHM only etc), they should stay locked.

The Glamour system is setup so that you can glamour any gear your class/job can wear onto another piece that it can wear. So to remove the restriction to allow it to be glamoured means allowing the class to equip the base item.
It literally means that if you wanted to dress up your tank as the dancer job gear it means you can wear that dancer job gear stats be damned. This also means that anyone who uses the recommended gear will find that the system merely grabs the highest ilvl piece your class can wear. So those old all class accessories cause issues with the system where you can be on a class that needs strength but it grabs a bunch of dex accessories because it is the highest ilvl available, or in the low levels where a tank can wind up swapping their entire tank set out for a DPS set because it was the first highest ilvl piece the system grabbed. This is a big part of why the gear were rebuilt going from post release ARR to HW into the role sets, and going from HW to SB they did the same to accessories because of the previously mentioned problem.
Sure. Absolutely. Keep the gearing and rolling system as is so you can only Need gear you can wear, and so you don't see tanks literally wearing healing gear etc (i could imagine paladins claiming to be healers with clemency), but once an item goes in the dresser? Let anyone glam to it.
Why? Because of the general glam we already have access to. I have no problem with the swimsuits or the mascot costumes or whatever, they aren't my style but I'm happy for people to have the option... but we have so many options NOT available to us that it just comes off as silly.
So, we can have swimsuit tanks, moogle mascot MCH with popguns, swole Namazu monks, and completely naked anything and anyone, but we can't have an armored cleric WHM, or a shinobi that specializes in DNC techniques, or a battle RDM in dragoon armour, or anything else like that. There are so many cool concepts that are being denied to us despite the availability of outright ridiculous glamour options already available to us.
At the very least drop the restrictions on crafter and gatherer gear.
There's really no good reason even for this caveat.Job-restricted pieces however (RDM only, WHM only etc), they should stay locked.
Yes yes, devs say this won't change. That doesn't mean it's defensible.
There's a set of fingerless long gloves I can only wear as a healer. This is absolutely stupid and to not agree is just being stubborn and contrarian for the sake of it. Seriously, anyone against lifting this restriction needs to go find an RP forum and stay there. Stop ruining the game with weird fake stories.

Why do people come up with arbitrary and fake complaints to fuel problems that don't exist?
Thanks for that. "Liking" and crossing my fingers that it gets asked (specifically and properly). Let's see him try to hyperbole that question now about job identity when AF and weapons are off the table.
I would argue that it is. Artifact sets are often the iconic outfits that represent a single, specific job throughout the entire Final Fantasy series. While some are arguably "new," with liberties taken (or re-imagined), I can totally understand the unwillingness to allow the possibility of people conglomerating them. Wasn't around XI when they allowed AF on different jobs for glamour; it wouldn't exactly bother me if they did it here in XIV, but I can understand why they are reluctant to.

The Makai ones? I have lamented, often, that I can't wear those on my other classes haha D:There's a set of fingerless long gloves I can only wear as a healer. Act in such a way that you treat humanity, whether in your own person or in the person of another, always at the same time as an end and never simply as a means
